Tanard Jackson to be reinstated 5/6/2014

I guess it's fairly low risk, but I'm tired of these guys. Tired of playing the game....

Contract verbiage perhaps? I'm thinking void clauses where they either don't have to pay him money and/or he has to return money if he gets in trouble again. Perhaps there are also escalators for good behavior, model citizenry and the like. Looks like he also gets a raise from 700K to the vet minimum. Sounds like a win-win. Tanard's gonna bust his ass with his last chance while the Skins hedge their bet just in case. Gotta admit I'm kinda rooting for the guy to stay on the straight and narrow.

Hopefully we are now going to stop being Raiders East and get rid of these bad character guys and not pursue those in FA.
Enough of Jackson, enough of guys like Fred Davis.
Enough drama.

Then we might as well send Hall, our BEST defensive player over the last 6 years, back to the Raiders where he came from

I've seen some people reporting that we've already brought Jackson back to a more tram-favorable deal. Can't find any confirmation though.

Edit: Keim confirms.

@john_keim: Yes, Tanard Jackson has been re-signed by the #Redskins, team source confirms @NBCdianna report

Maybe a 'more team favorable deal' has more to do with language regarding character and possible injury issues vs dollars & cents the way we have been looking at them. They may have added some 'split salary' language so if he is on IR his salary is reduced. The full salary hits the cap but if the guy goes to IR the team then gets a cap credit based on the salary reduction. Injury prone vets tend to see this type of clause as well as low round draftees might get for their first couple of years.

I guess there might have been unpaid workout/roster bonuses or something tied to the old contract that maybe they were trying to dump. ESPN is saying that they signed him to the minimum and he only hits the cap at $635K but I don't think that's accurate. A one year qualifying contract of that type that hits the cap at $635k is available to vets with 10 or more accredited seasons who sign for their minimum (ie Moss gets his $955k minimum but hits the cap at $635k). It's in place so that older vets can keep playing with the team getting a break in the cap hit.

Well in any case, he is here now (at least for the time being). So - should we say - Welcome? Back? I guess if the FO is willing to bring him in then I am gonna say, 'Welcome'.

Well, Hall unlike Tanard Jackson and Fred Davis has been a pro bowl player in the past so there really is no comparison between a solid NFL starter and also-rans like these other two.

Also, as far as I know Hall has never been suspended from the league for what got these guys in trouble.

I was going to post a question about whether there was another player like Jackson that has been suspended for time in THREE straight seasons.

But I will just be snarky enough to pronounce with the resigning of Tanard my worries about depth at the safety position has been erased

Well, Hall was cut right smack in the middle of the season by the Raiders (also the team you insist welcomes troubled players), so he had some serious character issues at the time.
So, I think that falls under the "drama" you referred to.
Yet he still rebounded and became an excellent player.
And that's my point - not every player who goes through character problem is utterly doomed for his career

just saying sometimes a player and the team, coaches, front office don't get along so that changes where a lot of things happen...some might not be true ...some may be so...but everyone does not get along with everyone...so i guy on one team might not get along with coaches might be fine on another team and coaches..one palyer might be fine with our team where as not fine on another.....shoes have to fit.....

It can be a career-buster when the 'drama' off the field consists of consuming illegal substances
