Super Bowl or Branding/Name Change?

I think the substantiated allegations of personal sexual harassment was the last straw. And once his wife decided she'd had enough, that was it.

Part of me honestly thinks that they viewed the double books far more negatively than the allegations of SH. They only cared about SH because it was a PR black eye.

I don't doubt that. I think the story that came out yesterday underlines how resistant he was to selling though - and there's never been any real info showing the league 'forced' him out (short of major crimes, I'm not sure they could have). There was some noise from a couple other owners about the possibility, but owners voting other owners out is not very likely because of the precedent it would set.

Snyder's wife and kids were the driving factor in him finally letting it happen. I would bet my life on it. They are the only thing he puts before his own petty, selfish interests.

I think you're right. But can you FATHOM the fallout that would have happened had he truly blown up the deal that night at the eleventh hour. The hatred of him would have skyrocketed even further than where it already was.

My first job out of college was as a paralegal. A Partner was told to leave aka fired. Not an everyday occurrence. He was stubborn and stood his ground for a while. Office workers slowly dismantled his office, taking away the furniture, pictures, etc. He was using a card table for a desk before he finally threw in towel. That is what Dan Snyder would have done were it not for Coach Gibbs and probably his wife as well.

To all of you who rooted against the ring...

Lol, well I started the thread, and I'm certain no one cheered harder for us to knock off Philthy. Hated seeing the season end that way. Hope Buffalo gets past KC tonight and then beats them by 50.

Hail.
I'm just grumpy.

But take the ring, every time, who knows when you'll get another chance.

We're all on the same side. Even the stupid people disagreeing with me today :eek:ls:

Okay... now that the ring is off the table. Let's change the name.

Let's go Werewolves! Aroooooo!!!!

Hail to the Werewolves
Howl for victory
Pack on the hunt
Fight for old DC

This offseason, we will:

- Get a new brand/mascot
- Get a new stadium announcement
- Build through the draft with competent football folks making the decision
- Spend a very large free agency budget as one of THE most attractive destinations in the league

August can't come soon enough.

“ I think the jersey sells will go through the ROOF if they correct the branding”

Not sure how much more through the roof they can go coming off Washington’s best sales day ever and Daniels’ jersey being the hottest on the market.

Daniels IS the rebrand. While the mindset here may be favorable to a rebrand, I’m thinking that is vastly outnumbered by the success bandwagon fans that only care about being seen in the hottest gear in the league.

If a bad brand with the franchise's first generational QB could set a sales record, then I'm pretty sure a better brand with the same great player (and presumably with even more established and sustained success) could surpass that record.

Daniels + Braves/Warriors + logos that resemble our heritage + sustained winning = massive merchandise sales

Braves and Warriors are awful. Besides, there are already teams with that name.

I don't have a problem with Braves other than I always think "Boston" when I hear the name. Braves was our original name in 1932. Warriors I also don't have a problem with - my local high school are the Warriors and their icon is a spearhead. Washington Warriors has a nice ring to it. Both names imply native Americans, so I like that. And both names allow us to consider using the old icon (see my avatar) or a variation thereof. I also like Redwolves because it starts with "red." Naturally, I have no problem with Redskins, but I doubt that will come back. What I don't like is the C-word. Can this site do polls?
