So when will the Redskins Logo get back on the helmet and playing field?

For this soft man, here's how "Redskins" plays in the year 2024...directly adjacent to:

- Washington Whiteskins
- Washington Blackskins
- Washington Brownskins
- Washington Yellowskins

Attaching a name utilizing a flawed description of the color of human skin to a multi-billion dollar organization grew to be off-putting and dated for a lot of people...and it doesn't have a snowballs chance in hell of coming back.

That said, Commies has got to go.

A name change is nowhere near the challenge than pushing out and replacing an NFL owner is....

Yep, the increased fan pressure and apathy played a small role for sure - I think it helped shine a light on how disgusted everyone had gotten with the laundry list of things that were coming to light about Snyder. For years, many were able to overlook him being a dufus with no football IQ....but the mistreatment of employees, the way he used our cheerleaders as his personal fantasy fodder, and the horrible ways he treated his business partners all began coming back to bite him. When the fans were able to blast him on radio, message boards, Twitter, podcasts, and stop showing up (or chant "sell the team" or "Snyder sucks" at games)...it just made the national story more about his wretchedness than about whatever might be happening on the field.

A name change would undoubtedly be easier and cheaper to deal with (I would guess $1M might be underselling it some, but they'd also stand to make money off a rebrand).

I agree with this partially. I've noticed that when folks say exactly what they think in a straight forward manner, the younger generation labels them as mean, when those folks are not really mean at all. My Dad always used to say "Say what you mean and mean what you say and quit beating around the bush". That's lost on alot of younger folks.
I'm rambling off topic so I'll hush. lol

When I type " Redskins rebrand cost " into Google, I'm given the number 20 million.
Compared to a 6 billion investment, it really is still " chump change ".
I don't think cost would be a serious impediment.
 
I've ready some business articles that implied that the costs of rebranding are wildly overstated. I won't pretend to know the true cost (somewhere between 1 and 20 million?, lol...)

I guess I feel like a multi-billion dollar org trying to explain any distinction without making themselves look absolutely terrible is a losers game for them.

Yeah, I see where the Post said around 10 million, so who knows ... Regardless, it doesn't sound like, relatively speaking, it would really be any kind of obstacle.
 
That, and most of these estimates don't take into account the revenue potential the team might realize if they had a really cool name, logo, and well-designed swag. I would think that would dwarf/eclipse any costs of rebranding in pretty short order.

Personally, not a huge fan just because it seems silly and dated. But, like a lot of things, I don’t think it's got to be all or nothing. I'm not even saying I really care if individuals use Redskins or rock Redskins gear.

What I'm saying is that you just cannot have a multi-billion dollar org with a massive fanbase to appeal to and have an antiquated racially-charged term as the brand.

The sad thing is, i think without Dan's bungling of the whole situation that there could have been a much more graceful transition to a new name where a lot of the pining for the old one was put to bed.

In regards to the Chiefs, I think their day is coming. We can talk about penduluums swinging back all we want but there is a lot of consensus in today's world that it's no longer appropriate to use groups of people as 'mascots'. I have to believe at some point 'Chiefs' is going to face the same kind of scrutiny as 'Redskins' did.
 
Blackhawks, Seminoles, and yes...Braves too.
My point all along was that the rules were supposed to eradicate "all Native American imagery" and were not applied fairly across the board. Our team and the Indians were the only organizations targeted.
I know the reasons for the two, but that's definitely not eradicating "all", which I thought was the original intent.

Not as long as they're winning though. Snyder and rock bottom made it easier to get the Redskins.

Pretty much agree with this.
As long as the NFL continues to allow Kansas Swiftie to keep on Chiefin', and at the same time saying no to our logo, they come off as being inconsistent.

And I don't think the Chiefs are going to change their name anytime soon.

Right - I'm agreeing with your overall point. I just would have been shocked if any professional team could pull that off for $1M.
 
For curiosity, what is the average amount of sales a team makes on jerseys, caps, and other branded material per year?
