Damn you make that sound fantastic! Are black tips the only edible ones or is that the main type you usually run into? Seems like it would be kinda tough just cause of their hide.
 
You can eat any shark. Sharks urinate through their skin, so unless you like the taste of ammonia you have to skin them completely. Not to mention you could not eat shark with its skin on.

What Boone said... We always skin and clean them fairly fast so the flesh doesn't get tainted. We catch all sorts down here, but a black tip about the size Boone pictured is about perfect. Stingray is also good eatin, and you actually have to watch some of the markets, as they will use a circular punch to cut out plugs of stingray and pass it off as scallops. This area of Fl is know for sport fishing. We use to host the Tarpon turnie, but the sharks caught on, and would maul the fish before you could get them to the boat.
 
Not sure - guess there may have been a fine tooth in there - the charter capt called them 'Atlantic sharks' - I wasn't looking closely enough (think fine tooths have a 2nd dorsal fin).
 
Appreciate the info Boone and MM. Never knew you had to hurry skinning sharks before eating em, nor that they piss through their skin.
 
John that area is just loaded with Atlantic sharpnose sharks. Further you get out further you get from them. Sometimes we'll run 30mi to get way from them. In the cooler months it's hard to catch anything but them or dogfish. Glad yall had a good time/ one of these days I'm gonna take yall out to my Hotspots up there... Miss it mucho!

And a wedding this summer with a longtime friend who has recently accepted me as more. Happy hasn't been a big enough word lately... Blessed.

Where ever you uploaded it from you should be able to edit it save it, and reupload it here again. I have no clue if you can edit a picture that is already on BGO. Someone way smarter than me will have to answer that one lol
