The rumor on Barnes is that the trade was made for a player, not a pick.

That player is a "I've never heard of him before" depth lineman.

We have a need there, so it's better than nothing.

Ahh, so it's one of those "John Beck for Doug Dutch" trades, like we had withe the Ravens.

In other words, "a nobody for a nobody"

Or, "We'll trade our useless player, for your useless player"

Or, "Here, take this guy, who will end up out of the league within a year or 2, for the same kind of guy from your team."

Or better yet, "Here, take this guy that we're going to cut anyway, and we'll take of your players that you were going to release anyway !!"

Played in 37 games with 5 starts...much better return than I would have thought for Barnes, who's only real claim to fame was making Jahvid Best puke Gatorade.

It looks that way. We just got a good lineman for depth purposes - maybe a starter if he fits into the ZBS (has the right size for it).

Looks like Jammal Brown will be cut. Not confirmed yet, but strong rumors have increased in the last thirty minutes or so.
