No coach goes 10-6 in each of his first 2 seasons, then gets fired after going 6-9, unless he has some serious personality/character issues.
 
Baldinger just stated that Jon Gruden is a possibility in Philly, based on his positive history there, and the chance to go against his brother twice a year.

Doug Marrone, Hugh Jackson, Adam Gase, Mike Shula, Tom Cable, Sean McDermott, Darrell Bevell, are some other names being mentioned.

That's true....but think about his quality of life.

How many months a year do you think he has off? How many days a week do you think he really works?

$6.5 million for a part-time gig?

And no worries about being fired a year or two from now if he can't win.

He has the job everyone here wishes they had. Talk about football on a chill schedule, and get paid a ton for doing it.

He may feel differently a few years from now, but I bet it would take $10 million a year or something crazy to give up that life.
 
Chip would never give his players the traditional day off (always a Monday or Tuesday with all other teams). So they were working every single day from late July to the end of the season. That is uncalled for and should not happen.

I never, ever want to see him close to a Redskins locker room, training camp, Redskins facility, FedEx Field, or anything Redskins related.

What is it with Eagles coaches? Vermeil did the same thing with his players in Philly. They were always burned out by the end of the season. Then they had Buddy Ryan - a horrible human being by any standard. The one good coach they had was Andy Reid.

I almost feel sorry for Philly. Almost.
 
I don't see Jon Gruden, if came back to coaching, working in NFC East. I think having to play his brother twice a year would prevent this move. Few years ago Peyton wouldn't consider the NFC since didn't want to play Eli twice a year and opted to stay out of NFC.

I honestly believe Gruden wouldn't for same reason. Again, why would he want the grind of coaching when he has a great job doing MNF?
 
Here's the thing with Jon Gruden: ESPN is slashing payroll like it's the Florida Marlins. They're dumping enormous amounts of on-air talent as quietly as possible because Disney wants them to remain as profitable as possible. The only scenario I could see Jon leaving the booth for would be if he sees the handwriting on the wall and is concerned about his future. Think about it, MNF gets some good games, as well as some crappy games. ESPN may decide that salary isn't giving them enough ROI to merit continuing down that road.

Having said that, I'd be more than a little surprised to see Jon come to the same division as his brother. Seems to me that if he had a choice (and I'm thinking he will have his choice) he would go for something else, a little further removed from family.

Do you think he will land somewhere in the NFL? If it is simply about his personality, some owner might be able to suck it up and hire him.
I believe he is headed back to college.
 
I've got Chip going back to college and either Gruden or Sean Payton going to the Dolphins.
 
Hoping the iglets have a run of bad coaching equal to what we've had. As long as they don't try and take away Callahan they can pick whoever.

They're booing fans need a big taste of humble pie.
 
On another note, if they have a fire sale of personnel is there anyone we should take a look at?

Demarco possibly? Ain't gonna lie I think he'd thrive with us and BC.

im hoping every team in the division does and we can dominate the division for the next 10 years
 
No RB is going to thrive here unless we greatly improve our run blocking. Yes - injuries had an impact but regardless we are a below average to poor run blocking OL. The OL rebuild is only halfway complete and I hope to see us finish the job this coming draft. I'd like to see us take the top rated center with pick #1.

I bet the Redskins use their #1 pick on a wide receiver with size and speed.

But you are right that OC is going to be a priority. To be fair, Lichtensteiger getting hurt really changed things because while he was a solid but unspectacular player, Josh LeRibeus is the worst starting center in the NFL right now. He has no feel for the position and it is amazing that he hasn't hiked the ball over Cousins head yet, although he has come damn close.

I bet the Redskins go BPA. As we should. We don't NEED another WR, we've won 8 games with the group we have, without Kirk going through TC or preseason as the established QB. Their chemistry is only going to get better. I'll bet McL sprinkles in a later round pick in the WR position, but I am also willing to bet he won't force anything.

This isn't Vinny anymore. I doubt seriously we're going into the draft deadset on picking the best WR available.

As I've said a million times, draft Linemen. The rest will fall into place.

I was reading a little bit about him and on 2nd thought rather not get him. Not because of play, I believe he'd put up crazy #'s. He's got some pretty sketchy morals off field.

It's just sad to me ALMO doesn't have IT anymore and more than likely gone this offseason.
