RIP Rob Ryan, and Now Chip Kelly Fired Too.

They've got a little bit of rebuilding to do. They have some star players, but their overall talent has diminished under Kelly...not Steve Spurrier bad, but they need a 2-3 year rebuild before getting back to competitive.

Ironic that CK the GM got CK the HC fired. He turned the team into a rebuild project with his personnel moves... but I was hoping the Fecals FO would take longer to figure that out... :congratulatory:

His Offense always put the Defense in bad positions, even with a 10-6 record. You don't have the same amount of bodies in the NFL that you do in College and the NFL players are stronger, smarter and faster. Whenever his O petered out, it was second-half of seasons when they were just beaten up and dog tired. Still... his personnel moves only made those things more apparent.

Probably the reason why his defense played the most snaps in the whole league

It might take NFL defensive coaches a few weeks, a few months or even a season to learn how to stop a gimmick on offense, but when they figure out how to stop it, they stomp it out of existence.

It wasn't the offense, it was the lousy personnel he chose...and the good personnel he let go.

I mean, DeMarcus Murray!?!

Clearly, his unwillingness to let go of the "Personnel Control", lead to Lurie letting him go, but an "offensive genius" like Chip Kelly should be able to figure out how to use Demarco Murray and Company. His inability to adapt, shows that he is familiar with only one way to run things. You can get away with that in college, but not in the pros.

The quick pace, worked in large part because of Desean, McCoy, etc, to your point, but much was because it was new. You give NFL defensive coaches enough time, and they will make you pay for being one dimensional.

Chip the GM was a disaster, I don't think anyone argues that. I'm thankful McL came here instead of going there, because I do think Chip the Coach could have done something with a well-stocked roster.

As it is, whoever comes in is looking at a couple of years of rebuilding I would think.

Yay!

Sorry, but the Eagles were quite able to score on us in quick bursts.

Personnel was the only thing that limited that offense. In his first two years he was 20-12...not too shabby.

This one looks more like a personality firing than anything else.

Score on us? Are you talking about the 2013/2014 Jim Haslett lead Redskins Defense?

I'm talking about last Saturday.

Chip was getting demolished for some of the plays he used in the rain. The Demarco pitch fumble deep in his end of the field was awful. Come playoff time, come December(especially in the NFC East with bad weather), you have to protect the ball. Do you think being down by 6 that it was a good call in the rain backed up deep?
Of course it was not. Not hindsight either.

that is what their offense is designed to do.

Final reminder that Jay Gruden dominated Chip Kelly 3-1 in matchups.

Arena Football League championship experience >>>>>>> multiple Pac 10 conference titles

I think another component that Chip Kelly needs to fix, if he ever wants to succeed in this league, is Time of Possession.

Sure,it's fun to get the offense rolling up and down the field, scoring in quick bursts but it's no fun watching your defense getting gashed because they're worn out.

Kelly hasn't shown that he understands that concept or he outright rejects it. At Oregon, he had 80+ players at his disposal on gameday.....the NFL allows you 46.

Just not enough bodies to sub in and out.

I'd like to see the clown show continue up there. I mean serious dysfunction. Fighting, gossip, losing the locker room.

I'm praying for Kyle. And an extra prayer that he brings along the sharp talents of Raheem, Polumbus and Hank too.

Maybe even a Haz reunion.

Peyton and McDermott (CAR D-Coordinator) are the two I've heard from my distraught Eagles-fan friend.

Absolutely! Is he patient enough, or just cutting to the chase, NOT SUCH A STUBBORN SON OF A BITCH, to realize this? Ask his defense what they think of the lopsided Time of Possession.

It never seemed that Kelly had the respect of his players. I wonder what impact Murray's meeting with Lurie had.

I agree with tr1. I think CK got fired because he was a stubborn, abrasive prick who the players hated, not due to on the field failings or even some of his personnel decisions. Lurie has been one of the most patient, forgiving owners in the league for a long time. For him to jettison Kelly in such dramatic fashion tells you all you need to know.

Ironic that CK's first game was versus us in primetime, then last game was a loss to us in primetime.

Seems like poetic justice.

Like many before him, Chip the GM hurt Chip the HC. Kelly is arrogant and not willing to adjust. He felt his way was best.

I have heard he met with a few players over the week since that conversation which most likely played into.
