Yeah, I think you missed an option in the poll. He was a talented guy whose talent was amplified by a great offensive coordinator until the league figured it out and Griff didn't have anything else.

Although that's probably too wordy to be a poll option. LOL

I think RG3 had a great 2012 season. I don’t think he was an average QB. I think he was below average. While the Shanahan’s are not blameless for how things went with RG3 I put the lion’s share of his injuries and how his career turned out on Griffin himself. His ego and stubbornness to not protect himself hurt him in the end, and the fanbase did him no favors with the unearned hero worship that was bestowed upon him right off jump…so I also blame myself. One of the biggest tell tales of a problem with him was his “all in for week 1” slogan and forcing and early return. I also blame Snyder for cozying up to him too much and giving him a way to jump the chain of command straight to him.

If I could vote twice I would choose option 2 and 3. An average QB who had 1 wonderful year thanks to the playbook who was also a self promoted egotistical piece of work

I loved RG3 and had hope for him even through 2014.

Shanahan didn't ruin him. Both were ruined by Dan Snyder. Shanahan didn't have the guts to bench RG3 during the playoffs after he started limping badly. RG3 had that power to influence Shanahan because Dan Snyder's favoritism gave RG3 the power.

I will always think badly of Shanahan for not putting his foot down when it needed to be done. I will always think worse of RG3 for having no discipline both in the locker room and in his personal life. I will always think worst of Dan Snyder because he was the root cause of the entire breakdown.

Bringing RG3 back in any honorary role is a choice I wouldn't make. I will always be fond of the memories of 2012, but I will never celebrate him as a person.

I wonder if he is going to wear those Superman socks with the capes on them.

Perhaps a little re-wording is due for tomorrow. Maybe "lower torso-end" of the game and leave his Legs out of it, they're 'bout worthless.

I personally think it is ridiculous to bring Robert back in a legend of the game capacity. That said, we need to remember that for some of the younger fans in their 30s and below, sadly, 2012 Robert is one of the only pleasant memories associated with Washington football they have. Might that have something to do with the decision? Otherwise, I am having a hard time making sense of it.

RG3 had a good year in 2012 (OROY), but that team would not have gone anywhere without Alfred Morris, London Fletcher and the D playing inspired late in the season, and even Kirk Cousins coming in and winning a few games.

This is my take as well. RGIII and Shanny deserve some blame, but it was mostly Snyder undercutting the coaching staff and feeding Griffins ego.

Griffin had the seeds of egotism, but Snyder fed him the steroids that ruined the situation.

1 and done. Big mouth

RG3 didn't even win a playoff game.

Sure, he might have if he didn't reinjure himself but that isn't what happened.

Then the clown show really began with that entrance the following season.

I'll confess, I thought I had a overly harsh personal take but it sounds like I'm not alone on him. Well, maybe after he gets his acknowledged today, he will fade quietly into the background. A guy can hope...

We adopted 3 female kittens on the last weekend of preseason 2012...of course, I named one RG. She passed during the lockdowns of '20. She was so awesome, we had a very special bond.
And on the "supporting cast" topic, don't forget our WR corps...Pierre, DeSean, Moss, and Hankerson. He was set up with everything, even Almo.

I've got no angst or dislike for RG3 from a football perspective, great "what if" story more than anything. Blew out his knee, then came back to break his ankle. As far as his attitude etc. right now he gets paid for that, or did, at the team level considering all the other crap from the previous demon midget running the team I give it a pass as not sure how much was him, how much Shanaclowns ego (very large for a guy who didn't win shit without Elway) and how much was overall culture in the building. Do I think it's odd to honor him, no, it's not like they brought in Heath Shuler or McNabb. Also, this site exploded with attention after he was drafted, while many of those members left over the years, until recently that was the last time BGO was popping off like a rocket if I recall correctly. Please note SO's memory can be ahem "foggy" at times.

I'm going to put yesterdays loss squarely on the shoulders of anyone that felt it was a good idea to honor RGME as a legend of the game yesterday. That just set up the day to be a disaster and it was. Now if we can never mention his name again it would be much appreciated

I hope Albert Haynesworth isn’t next.
:puke:I am disappointed we don't have a puke emojii for that comment. And now I am very worried that he will in fact be used at some point.:puke:
