Rex to Start?

Interestingly enough, a guy from Yale did an economical study of the draft, and found that later 1st-round picks are more valuable than early first round picks.

" The surplus value of draft picks actually increases throughout the first round, i.e., latefirst-round picks generate more value than early-first-round picks."

http://mba.yale.edu/faculty/pdf/massey_thaler_overconfidence_nfl_draft.pdf

I posted this here awhile back...very interesting if you have the time to read it.

Goal- I completely agree , when I use caps its for emphasis. and I also agree that we have too many holes for straight up BPA thats why I added the caveat among our need positions, I dont want to start reaching because of holes, thats how you get even worse.

Lanky im gonna go read that when i get back from the doc im not overly surprised by that hypothesis tbh, early first rounders are riskier and more costly in terms of contract and teams who dont pick top 5 have to do more homework or risk getting skunked.

Just learned that Rex Grossman is starting over McNabb Sun in Dallas; I'm told Redskins Lockeroom is divided and guys are extremely upset

I have no problem with this. Grossman knows the offense better, he could be on fire or he could lay a dud. He can throw a slant better which should help with pressure. Keep McNabb healthy for a trade in the offseason. It looks like a huge mistake bringing him in. He did not pick up the offense fast enough (we could not see that coming) and he is inaccurate (should have seen that coming).

Let's see what Grossman has over these last three games and see if we want to invest in him for the future. If we do not invest in him and dump McNabb, a complete overhaul of the QB position once again.

The reason I have a problem is that the "locker room is divided and guys are extremely upset". Team chemistry is suffering and we're not even sure what we'll get with this move.

As far as 'locker room is divided.'I would say half of those guys are not going to be here next year anyways, plus its the end of the season. Time to find out what we have on the roster...practices don't cut it....people cannot be evaluated properly until they are thrown into live action.

Rex has not seen extended live action for a while now. He is on a one year deal....let's see what he can offer after two years in this system and see if he can earn a new limited contract. He could be a very valuable back up. Not many QB backups have been to the SuperBowl as a starter. I think there is value in that.

:clap2:

took the words out of my mouth.

The only thing i can think of is that Shanahan wants to see what he's got in Grossman. It aint like were gonna win anything this year, and maybe he wants to evaluate stuff to trim fat...

I can't say I am against this either. I was pleasantly surprised that McNabb actually drove us down for a potential game tying TD late in the game last week, but he has been consistently inconsistent all season long!

Let's see what the other players have! How about Cook and Capers? Any word on them?

Eff this. Rex Grossman? Are you SERIOUS? You people don't have a problem with this?

This is going to be a disaster. We are going to get throttled by our hated rivals, all because Kyle Shanahan needs a scapegoat. HOW ABOUT THE O-****ING-LINE, KYLE? HOW ABOUT OUR **** WR CORPS? I am so mad over this, I may have to not watch. SO ANGRY.

I sure hope they play. It may be why Rexy gets the start in the first place. McNabb is getting pressured/hit/sacked behind the starters. We may be more interested in seeing what our backup linemen can do, and Rexy is the crash test dummy. And, if he does well behind the 2nd team, it's a feather in his cap.

At the end of the day, I don't care who plays, as long as they find a way, any way, to beat those demon spawns of hell.

He does have more (err...I mean...the same) SB experience than Donovan McNabb!

Look, I HATE DALLAS! The last thing I want is to see us lose to them. That would be the stamp on a terrible season, but McNabb is pretty sad. You have shown some stats that suggest McNabb's season hasn't been that bad, but Lanky, you have watched him all season long like I have. If you're being honest with yourself, they take off the blinders to see that. Why not bring in something fresh to strike a cord?

We have lost 3 in a row now, and have lost 4 of the last 5 in pretty sad fashion. Our offense is malignant! Let's start Cook and Capers! Let's put Heyer back at the RG position. Let's switch things up and see what we have in game time, not just on the practice squad.

Havent they both been in exactly one super bowl?

Im with Lanky on this one..this isnt going to be pretty AT ALL.

Yeah, I forgot Mike. The same SB experience is what I should have said!

No he doesn't. He DID throw more TDs in the SB than McNabb did, however, but unfortunately most of them went to the Colts.

I honestly don't think McNabb is the problem with our offense. I think its that we have a crappy OLine and that we have no playmakers at WR. McNabb's play is 3rd...yes, he throws a few passes in the dirt; didn't seem to hurt the Eagles when they were ranked in the top 10 in offense every year.

I don't think McNabb is the only problem either, I know our line is atrocious and that doesn't give him time for the plays to set up and McNabb rushes his throws. I get all that. But McNabb is a huge problem on our offense. His weaknesses have been exposed! Being a Redskin has really exposed McNabb for the average QB he is without a key player like Brian Westbrook.

Last year Grossman had one opportunity with Schaub going down. If memory serves he performed well. Why not give him a shot here? McNabb can't handle the pressure behind a putrid line, can Rex? Probably not, but why not try something different?

thats why Im here brother..to catch you when you slip..hahahaha

Let me just say this and Im sure it will get my point across: ****!!

At least it wasn't Ryman catching my mistake! :bucktooth:

calm down there Lanky! I happen to agree with most of your points....but it aint worth getting upset over. it's not as though DM is gonna make a big difference in this game anyway...most (not all) of the problems fall in other areas.

Grossman played well in Houston b/c he had the best WR in the NFL to throw to.

My blood is boiling. I had tickets to the Giants game, but I may not even enter the stadium. I'm just gonna stay outside and get drunk.
