Are the various supposed Winston quotes verified as actually originating from him? When he was on NFL Radio the other day he indicated that his priorities were: 1) team that was on an upward trajectory - capable of winning in the near future 2) Zone blocking scheme 3) Money - he wanted to be paid fair market value, but not at the expense of playing for a lesser team.
 
I for one like the Garcon signing. He comes from a division three school and after being backup/depth in his first two years, he had some good games in 2010 (year three) and finally was a starter in year four and put up really good numbers. Remember Indie was probably the only place in the NFL that had a worse QB situation than we did. I think we picked up this kid at the right time. He said in an interview that I saw that Kyle Shanahan called him at 4:02 so he was obviously high on our priority list. I also heard that three other teams were after him and offered him a very similar contract.

As far as Morgan goes, he has a chance to be one of the steals of free agency. Remember that I said this.

We still need an signing or two on the OL and we need to bring back Fletcher.

Good news on Royal. He hasn't done much the last few years, and not a fan of pseudo-nepotism.

Banks probably just breathed a sigh of relief.

I don't think Banks is a lock to make this squad regardless...
 
Banks was atrocious last year. I'll be shocked if he returns. And if he does, he had better return to his old form quickly.

I believe Moss is a lock. Hopefully in the slot.

I'm not sure where these "Moss is on the bubble" rumors emanated from, but I'm going to take a wild guess.

From the same people who said Shanny loved Gabbert last year, Vincent Jackson was our top WR target this year, and that Carriker was leaving and that we could get RG3 for much less than three first rounders?:smile2:

While I am no advocate for Banks, toward the end of last season he appeared to regain some of his speed. I think a major part of his early lack of production was because he had not fully recovered from his knee injury from the prior year and perhaps even being stabbed in the lung.

Another part of his lack of success last year, I believe, is that he seemed to abandon hitting the edge. I am not sure if this was coached or not. It could have been Danny Smith's mandate, but he seemed to follow the wedge no matter what. He seemed to lack any of the vision he exhibited when successful. The year prior before his injury almost all of his successful returns, even the ones called back, were when he was able to get around the corner.

With all that said, unless he comes into camp this year in rare form, he is likely cut. He needs to show he is full strength with the same burst we saw 2 years ago.
 
That doesn't account for his horrible decision-making, El. Bring balls out 9-yards deep with defenders at the 10.

I'm not saying he was great, but how many TD's has this guy had negated by penalties over the last two years?

And if we simply can't find him a roster spot, who would return kicks for us?

Indy used Garçon a lot on punts last year, when they really needed to make something big happen. Much like we used to try Santana in crucial situations, but he didn't have much success, and I doubt we want to risk injury.

Interesting, maybe we could afford to use Moss as a full-time return specialist now that we're much deeper at receiver ?

And if you noticed, it stopped toward the end of the season.
 
Someone help me. If we did get rid of Banks, who might be in the mix as our returner? The only candidates I can see, in no particular order:

1. Would have been Royal, but he's gone.
2. Garçon? 4.48 speed, but can't risk an injury.
3. Santana?
4. Niles Paul?
5. Robinson?

Am I missing anyone?

Don't hold me to it, but I believe Morgan was used as a return man at some point...maybe in college. I think I saw it somewhere when I started trying to find out about him.
