Redskins Acquire Center Bryan Stork

We'll get plenty of chances to beat teams with winning records this year, in our non-division games.

Matter of fact, you could argue that all, or nearly all of our non-division opponents will or could have a winning record :

Steelers
Browns
Ravens
Lions
Bengals
Vikings
Packers
Cardinals
Panthers
Bears

I know brother, I was teasing a little

Yeah, on paper that's a pretty brutal schedule. As some have said here, we could be a better team than last year and go 8-8.

Still, you never know. The Viking game, for example, just got more winnable. We'll see.

Six of those are home games and one is in London. Probably helps a little

And, again, I'll ask the question: How many years before we're considered an elite team? One, two, five? If we end up 8-8, I'll be happy...because, Gruden will likely be gone next year.
I seriously doubt we'll be an elite team this year. I seriously doubt anyone thinks that. I seriously doubt 8-8 will get Gruden fired.

I really don't understand. Why would you want the team to fail and the coach to be fired after they just played some of the best football they've played in years through the second half of last season?

When elite?

When we assemble an entire roster of future Hall of Fame players under 27 years of age for three consecutive years compiling a cumulative record of 57-0 and three new Lombardis in the case.

Right?

Troll is as troll does.

I am curious of who are the elite teams now? What qualifies them? I'd say likely only the Patriots but that could change with the Brady suspension this season, if an elite team backslides in record, are they still elite?

"Elite" teams heading into 2016? Based on gut, respective offseasons and current apparent health ... in no apparent order:

New England
Pittsburgh
Carolina
Green Bay
Seattle

Others who could join the list this year?

Arizona
Denver
KC

I like Cousins, but we wont be New England or Green Bay or Carolina, ever. Those teams are elite because they have elite QBs. We could become a Seattle/Pittburgh/Baltimore type. To become a team like that requires years of solid drafting and a good draft pipeline, and so far we've had one year of that. This year might make two. A couple more years and we could be up there with those guys. In the meantime, if we win 9 or so games a year and grab a division title here and there, thats ok with me. :)

I dunno.... As has been previously mentioned those teams are vulnerable if they're missing key players. I remember the Pats game last year and it was a bit of a mess but we had chances. And in the Playoffs we were up on Green Bay for a while (and to be honest that lead should have been bigger!) until Rodgers made our defense look silly with catching us subbing.

And if you look at our Superbowl teams (you may have to consult black and white footage it was so long ago!) we became champs with Theismann, Williams and Rypien, who I'd say were good but none of them really Hall of Famers. Despite being up against the titans of the day like Elway and Kelly and competing year on year with the likes of Montana, Marino etc.

Having an Elite QB makes life so much easier but doesn't make you unbeatable to a well put together team with a Good QB. I think (hope) that that's what we're building.

Injuries really hamstrung the Packers last year but they still won 10 games and went to the divisional round. It was the first time they hadnt wont their division in five years. Thats elite in my book.

When we are at that level, we'll be elite.

I think it's too early to say Cousins can't be elite. He's had one season as full time starter and he was pretty impressive with still lots of holes around him. Was Brady better in his first full year (I do t know - I'd have to pull the #'s but I'll bet they look similar. That doesn't mean Cousins can be Brady. But he reminds me of him for lots of good reasons.

It's the eyes, isn't it?

I would take any of our top three receiving threats last year over anyone Tom Brady had to throw the ball to in 2001 (or 2002 if you want to get technical). Cousins did great last year, but he had a LOT to work with in the passing game.

We're well on the way to being one of the top teams on a consistent basis. Gruden has the offense covered and McLovin will build the defense up.

#Redskins notes: Gruden and staff have built one of NFL’s four best designed offenses (along with Pats, Saints, Chiefs).

Until our run game becomes something other than anemic, you should hold off on that. I will cede that when a pass play is called, there is almost always a man wide open on every passing play, however, that is just part of the whole. We need a rushing game that can drive it down team's throats to end games...until then, we have to score 30 on the good teams. I would not call that having one of the best designed offense.

Yes, our run game has the potential to be absolutely horrid this year. I can't ever remember being more worried about our ability to run the ball than I am this season.

It has equal potential to be great, as it does, to be horrid.
So then, why not have a neutral perspective about it, instead of worried ?
It's not beyond reason for Jones to stay healthy, to resolve his fumbling issues, for our young backs continue to develop, the LG position improves with either a healthy Lauvao or an improved Long, and an obviously boosted passing game will set up a better run game.
All of those could very just as easily happen.

Sure, anything is possible. Thats why we watch the games.

I do not think the chance of our running being awesome is the same as it is of our run game being dreadful. I think we are going into this season with the weakest RB corps I can ever remember.

Hopefully they surprise me.
