There are plenty of avenues to discuss politics. This shouldn’t be one.

I am a voracious consumer of political news, policy, etc. and have been since +/- 9/11. Were it to happen here it would change relationships. It just would. Full stop. Football, hobbies, food & cooking, etc. is what I personally come for. If it were to devolve into a place of political rancor, which is virtually or practically assured, I would mosey on off from whence I came.
 
Flag Day. The flag on the nearest pole is a town flag - it's an 1812 flag which shows fifteen stars and fifteen stripes. The stripe below the blue field is red, rather than white. Same with the one way down at the bottom of the hill. That little flag is from Boarman's Market in Highland. A bunch of them were displayed on a shelf in a cardboard box display thing and they wrote in magic marker: FREE. Pretty cool. That house across the street which is mostly blocked by a bush was built during the Washington Administration.



I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America. And to the REPUBLIC, for which it stands - one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

We allowed COVID conversation here, we just didn't tolerate political discussion related to it. But yes, it is hard to find anything going on in the world that folks aren't going to immediately line up politically on.

Yeah, COVID is another great example of a topic that shouldn't be political but somehow was made very much so.

I totally agree with this which is why I am glad there is no politics here. On a former Redskins board, it was my favorite board, once we started discussing politics it lead to hard feelings. I could never engage in football talk again knowing what I knew about these people, especially the mod. So I pretty much moved on from daily poster to infrequent appearances.

Im a middle aged, non college educated, white, male construction worker who leans left.
I've mastered the art of socializing with people who i dont agree with politically.
Its kind of a survival skill really.

My best friend is on the other side. I got into it pretty good over the years with him but it never affected our friendship. Now we just avoid the subject, all my other friends see things the way I do and I need to ask them to stop because I just don't want to hear it anymore.

The guy I've been seeing is a year younger than me, but leans hard right. (Y'all know where I stand, and I've made more than a few points that he HAD to agree with.) Needless to say, none of this was on my Bingo card... :yikes:
But we avoid the discussion almost always, and it doesn't get in the way of anything.
 
I stay the F*** out of politics. I have lost friends because of their extreme stances, left and right.
 
So anyway we took an overnight to Cumberland so we could ride the old steam engine up to Frostburg. The train ride was a disappointment, I was expecting bettrer views.

I have traveled a lot and to me that blue water is the most beautiful thing on Earth.

We are going back to the Philippines next month. We live a couple hours drive from Boracay Island. We just aren't used to the weather and for some reason my wife is trying to avoid the sun like she is a vampire. Anyway, I'll be forcing her on the beach at some point.

See how she hides under trees?
