I am a born and raised Maryland boy but I've been down here in the suburbs of Miami for about 6 years and I absolutely love it. I've also spent the past 12 to 14 years traveling to many countries around the Caribbean. I just got back from Chicago, where I was there Monday through Thursday, and I don't want to go back to cold weather that's for damn sure!

I was raised in the DMV suburbs and lived there until 25. The hottest and most humid summers I ever experienced were there. The hottest sans humidity were in southern-central Illinois. Those that take the time to speak like Florida in the summer (at least on the east coast) is like living on the sun either have an axe to grind or have never been during the summer. Are the summers longer? Yep. Less comfortably livable? Not by a long shot.

I have to make another trip to see that beautiful blue water of the Carribbean. But I've never been to Miami or the Keys and was wondering if that would be a good option. I know there are no real beaches in the Keys so probably make a day trip there. Good beach areas near Miami? And is the water similar to the Carribbean?

Yeah I had a wedding to attend in Clearwater (Tampa) this past Memorial Day weekend and it was beautiful weather if you're on the water/beach, etc. But as soon as you drive inland, it's pretty miserable. And the traffic is horrible. Not a big Florida fan, unless it's January. Good Cuban sandwiches though.

When I was in 8th grade, our Social Studies held up a newspaper in front of the class which had a headline edge to edge. Can't remember the news. But his point was that it's very rare for a newspaper to have a headline from edge to edge, and that it will always represent something major.

I know this guy who is a Palestinian. I know him fairly well. And he explained to me one day that the moon landing was a fake. The world was fooled by the US and it was all a movie production type thing which never actually happened. He was sure of this. One piece of evidence was the flag that the astronauts planted. There are photos. It was standing straight out. But there's no wind on the moon. So how could this be. The explanation was that it was all a fake.

I asked him where he first got this idea and it turns out he was taught this in school when he lived in Palestine. This kind of fascinates me. This means that it's likely that just about everybody over there believe the US faked the moon landing. It's just a common fact over there. Not even debatable.

I remember the moon landing very clearly because we lived in Germany at the time. My dad was in the Navy. I remember watching the moon walk on our old little black and white Sears TV because that's all we had. We had to watch it in German. And I remember feeling a source of pride - being an American - a US citizen. And Neil Armstrong had been in the Navy - he was an officer in the Navy, just like my Dad. And I was actually interested in space back then. I had a scrap book ever since I was a little kid where I cut out photos from magazines like LIfe Magazine regarding the Gemini orbits and then the Apollo missions. I remember the spacecraft traveling around the opposite side of the moon - seeing part of the moon that had never been seen. And the radio transmission blackout.

But apparently, I had been fooled and I've remained fooled all these years. It was a carefully orchestrated plan spanning almost a decade and then continuing for over half a century designed to fool the nation and the world. Who knew?

But I couldn't let this go. I asked him some questions.

Which landing was faked?

Was it the first one? The one in 1969?

Was it the second one?

If we managed to fool the world after the first one, why would the US risk trying to fake a second one?

Was it the third one? The fourth?

Maybe it was the fifth one that was faked.

Or the sixth one - the one in 1972.

He shrugged. "Well, it's just my opinion", he said. And quickly changed the subject.

This is very troubling that he was actually taught this nonsense as a student. Do me a favor and send this pic to him. Explain that there was a rod inserted at the top, it's clearly visible, and a flag that won't display due to the lack of wind is kind of pointless.

That was the most excited for a game I have ever been. After that play I jumped on my then girlfriend and shouted "we're going to the Super Bowl!!!!".

I seriously doubt that. We had a very aggressive group of right wingers here that doomed it because I guess they didn’t think we were serious about expecting them to play well in the sandbox. None of them are members as a result. I’m not saying there weren’t problematic posters on the other side of the arguments, but that’s how I remember it (and I am far from liberal in my own beliefs on many topics)

Just had a litter of kittens a few weeks ago, this is one of them.

My wife and I decided to have one litter of kittens for friends and family so we could experience what you dont get to experience when you get a kitten from a shelter or breeder.

It's been a lot of fun but it's going to be really tough saying goodbye when it's time for them to go to their forever homes.
