I forgot he was still in the league and I live 90 minutes away.....................nope not a good idea from my perspective.

The real story is Baker going into this season with no more years on his contract, if he balls out TB just f'd themselves galore.
 
It's a reasonable question, I just think giving up picks for older players is generally a bad idea. Peters has done it twice with Lattimore and Deebo Samuel and in both instances it's been a waste of valuable draft picks.

I don't see Deebo as a waste, what'd we give up a 5th rounder? Who knows what last year looks like if JD stays healthy and out defense was capable of at least stopping a TX D1 high school. I can't hate on the Deebo trade due to circumstance. The Lattimore trade, yep, straight trash trade.
 
Gotta disagree. Giving up ANY draft pick for a 1 year rental is just shooting yourself in the foot.

I think that description fits a former Giants receiver blunder better

Coming off 2024, adding another weapon seemed like a good idea, hell I didn't complain, the fact we aren't even considering bringing him back is what I find puzzling, then again he might want some crazy cash.

Eh. I see the point of view. I think the average 5th rounder lasts in the league for like 2.5 years and caps out as a ST player and backup. There are obviously exceptions.

I didn't have a problem trading a late 5th for Deebo. And he had something like 750 yards. Probably out-performed almost all 5th round picks.

But I'm also not one of the folks that says you have to build through the draft all the time. I think your draft picks are assets, and you just need to use them the best way possible. The "Fuck them Picks" Rams have done things that way for the last number of years and it's worked out well for them. I wouldn't go as far as they go (I like first and second round picks), but they use their picks as assets.

Lattimore was a disaster. Deebo? Eh. I think what we got for the 5th was just fine.

But I completely see the opposite point of view where if you're building, just use the picks and don't trade them away.
 
I guess if the assumption is that our goal is to select guys who will perform at the statistical average of picks historically, I get that point. But that's not what we are trying to do. The point of those day 2 and 3 picks is to hit on gems or overlooked guys who turn out to be ballers and future starters other teams missed on. You can't do that if you throw picks away because 'it's only a 5th rounder'. I have no issue with using picks as part of trade packages - they are assets and a means to an end. But throwing away a 5th round pick for a guy who didn't even play one full season - that's poor management of your assets imho.

Cousins is getting a little cranky in his old age.


HENDERSON, Nev. -- Tempers flared during the Raiders' eighth training camp practice Friday.

Defensive end Maxx Crosby hit quarterback Kirk Cousins twice during the team period. And when Crosby hit Cousins' arm a second time, the 15-year veteran had had enough. Cousins got into Crosby's face, grabbing the All-Pro's jersey, while both exchanged words before it was broken up.

Raiders coach Klint Kubiak said it's a part of camp, but he wants his players to be smart when those situations occur.

"Those are two leaders on our team going at it," Kubiak said. "Obviously, fighting in a game [or] you throw a punch in a game, you are out of the game. So we got to be smart."

Tight end Michael Mayer said he likes that Cousins has that edge, especially being the starting quarterback.

"You want him to defend your team," Mayer said of Cousins. "He's always had [that edge] since the first day I met him when he came in here."

I was never as much on the Cousins bashing as others, but I will admit he has one of the most punchable faces and I wouldn't mind if Max Crosby did this to him:

And Maxx Crosby is no slouch at fighting, either.
He held his own, sparring against the 2-time & current UFC Middleweight Champion of the world

If Crosby was tied to a chair maybe.

Otherwise I'd like whatever Compton is smoking.

He had a great game. He wasn’t bad when we had him, he wasn’t bad when we dropped him, he hasn’t been bad since.

Getting us into kicker hell is one of a few - to me - clear mistakes AP has made. Very similar to our C move (Biadasz).

Kind of abrupt, did not value the “bird in the hand” enough. That needs to stop happening, I think.
