Why do certain people insist on using this highly overused noun consistently on this board? I am on two different message boards, non football, and I rarely see it used. For some reason on this board, people love to use this noun.

Hyperbole. 😡

Sometimes it's best just to use the simplest of words to convey your thoughts and feelings. Such as exaggeration, overstatement, elaboration or embellishment.

He' a ********, but at the same time this is Dan Snyder you are talking about and he was hated by other NFL owners across the board, so it was an unfortunate situation for the fan base because that meant 2 years in purgatory.

Going into this season I am very curious about Ben Sinnot and how he will be used. This is probably a make or break year to determine whether he remains in the team's long term plans. It seems apparent now that he isn't (maybe never was by the front office/coaches) who was envisioned to take over the #1 pass catching TE role and I know there has been whispers that AP drafted him thinking more of a hybrid H-back/TE role similar to Kyle Juszczyk in San Francisco. I wonder if the rest of the roster and/or the running game prior did not really allow him to get onto the field and settled into the role consistently enough and from the fans' eyes it made him seem like a bust, but I know I have seen plenty of times he was out there blocking very well for the run game.

If I was a betting man (and at one point in my life I was), I would bet on Newton. (Which is a bad thing.)

I'd really like for both of them to work out. I see more promise for Sinnott in a different scheme. Also, he really does contribute already, just not in the passing game the way he was expected to.

Newton needs to take a HUGE step forward and beat out a couple guys to get playing time. That's a bad situation to be in.

I’m not going to continue to argue this. We both have a case and neither of us have any idea why he’s not an OC. Choice, choosiness, or lack of options. Who knows.

But Kliff’s offense works.

It’s not how I’d run an offense, and not how I HAVE run an offense. But guys get open and make plays.

I don’t love the emphasis on QB designed runs, which are definitely part of his philosophy. But we also drafted a quarterback that has used his legs on designed runs and scrambles his entire career. And our backup QB is of a similar ilk.

I would have liked to use our RBs more, but Bill was too one dimensional. CRod and McNichols should have been featured much more - if they weren’t because of Kliff - that’s an issue.

I would have liked for our receivers to be productive, but with Terry’s holdout last season was basically a mailed in year for him.

I’d have liked to use more playaction, but we had no one that could win at the line of scrimmage enough to make that viable.

I’d have liked more motion, but we had too many street level receivers on the roster.

Kliff may not have done those things even if we had those guys. But we, as fans, were never able to find out.

Last year was injury riddled and blaming the offensive issues on Kliff, like many here and on the ol socials, is way off base.

That’s not to say I didn’t have issues with some of his playcalling, personnel usage or philosophies. I’m not even a huge Kingsbury fan.

But he can take mostly mediocre talent and make it fairly productive. We saw that in year one.

Year two the talent level fell off a cliff.

Why is he more to blame than the guy shopping for the groceries or the guy who is in charge?

Kliff shares that burden.

But this organization was a mess last year.

With you on pretty much everything you say here except what I feel are mental gymnastics on him not landing an OC job.

I think we all agree he went for interviews. I think we all agree he didn’t get those jobs.

I don’t see this idea that he didn’t get the job as “his choice” as up for debate unless you are just tied to this idea that he must be good enough to be an OC according to the NFL right now.

I am choosing my words carefully. It’s not an opinion as far as I can tell. He tried. He failed. That’s ok, but it is strange to see different reasoning from the hard observables. Maybe I am missing something. I could have misunderstood.

I have plenty of opinions and some of them are unfounded which doesn’t make them less fun to share and debate at times but I am usually careful with what I consider harder fact. That Kliff is a good or bad OC, I don’t know that - but to say he has traits of a good OC? I agree (won’t say I know). That he wanted a job as an OC and the NFL disagreed, I think I know. That he was a bad fit here with DQ at the helm because of differences in philosophy, I think I know. It’s why DQ really shouldn’t have hired him in the first place, ideally.

One of the nice things about not bringing back Deebo is that I really am curious to see how Lane can do in the screen game. In a way, his skill set was made redundant by having Deebo there. They're entirely different players as Deebo is a bulldozer and Lane is all speed and quickness, but in college what made people note Jaylin was his ability to take a short pass and do something with it and we saw that he could be dangerous in crowded spaces in the NFL as a punt returner. So, while a lot of attention is on finding that number 2 (we need a number 2 and/or someone who can become a number 1) I'm also really intrigued to see if who among our many 3/4 possibilities can take advantage of the opportunity.

New Washington tax law could affect Seahawks, Schneider says

Seattle Seahawks general manager John Schneider said he believed Washington state's new income tax on high earners would eventually have a negative impact on the team's ability to sign free agents.

I'm salivating how underrated we are. This is just absurd analysis, based entirely on recency bias. The Panthers are in a better position than we are? Fuck off. The Bears are "success builders?" Ok. Caleb still sucks and they won an NFL record games in the last 2 minutes. That's a regression candidate like no other. She has us in the same bucket as the Browns, Vikings, Falcons, and Colts. Ok.

These teams may have executed a solid free agency plan, but might have glaring questions at quarterback (including injuries) or feature an average to below-average/bridge quarterback. Or, they may have a great quarterback on a rookie deal — whose presence is outweighed by significant roster questions in every phase.

Washington Commanders
To me, the Commanders should have more firmly committed to the “rebuild” bucket. Their roster looked every bit its age in 2025 and GM Adam Peters’ splashier moves thus far in free agency are pretty self-aware. He’s added to the pass rush (Odafe Oweh, K’Lavon Chaisson, ILB Leo Chenal, who can blitz), defensive tackle (Tim Settle), filled a hole at tight end (Chig Okonkwo) and gave the secondary some juice (Amik Robertson, Nick Cross).

It sure looks like a rebuild in many ways, yet I couldn’t bring myself to put them there considering the potential they have with Jayden Daniels. Adding more top-tier receiving help must be next.

Most interesting move: Robertson has the potential to be a “move” player in Daronte Jones’ defense, which will draw a lot of concepts from Brian Flores’ in Minnesota.

If Chig bombs at TE or gets injured (hopefully he won't, but not everything works out), our starters at receiver and TE are worse than they were last season. What do we do if something happens to Chig and/or McLauren? What if Aiyuk isn't actually guaranteed to make our roster? Or he does and it turns out he hasn't stayed at an NFL level while staying off the NFL fields for 2 years? We will have some very big questions to answer. With that many questions, a few of them are bound to have painful answers.

A HC on the hotseat, a baby OC, a new DE, running it back on an old WR because we missed out on the good ones? We can find ways to comfort ourselves about how cool it will be to win with it, but the media has no obligation to spin it in a positive light.

You can literally say this about anyone. If Tet McMillian goes down? What about Odunze and Loveland?

The Browns are on the same level as us?

For the Panthers, they have the added benefit of recent history. If Tet gets injured, we at least know they won't be starting Chris Moore.

Washington had a truly disastrous season last season. The defense, if the signings pan out like we want them to, will be good. The offense hasn't done terribly much to improve since last season. Maybe the draft fixes everything. Maybe Aiyuk fixes everything. Maybe the defense will carry the team. Maybe Daniels will single-handedly carry the team like in 2024. Or maybe that's too many maybe's to spin as a guaranteed improvement and we finish 5-12 like we did last season.

The Browns finished 5-12 last season too. Until Washington proves itself, we are starting this season from the same level.
