Tough for a guy like that to reach an equilibrium without getting chances. When your first chance to make a play in a game is probably also your last…possibly for weeks…yeah that can get in your head. You’ve played football since you were a kid and were always a focal point of every program you were in. Then you hit the NFL, maybe you aren’t special anymore at the highest level, but to get only MAYBE one opportunity a game on average? That’s no way to see what a guy’s made of, and it makes every little routine route and target the fucking Super Bowl for that guy. Every single touch all of a sudden feels like it happens under a spotlight and you never naturally get to depressurize and just…play. Confidence is a real thing for these young guys. Withholding opportunities and then expecting a guy to be perfect every time he (rarely) gets a look his way, it’ll mess with a dude’s head.
I’m not even high on Sinnott, either. I’m not making excuses for him. It’s just not a sustainable way to bring young players along. It sucks ass.
