And sign off on position coaches ill-equipped to coach and develop those in their player portfolios? Why did it take so long to move on from Whitt, when everyone in the league had been whispering it'd never work (listen to Keim's pointed question in Whitt's intro presser, there was a reason for it). Did it take DQ so long because he was waiting for JD Power & Associates to finish yet another survey and evaluation for him? The decision-making is flawed.

Last season was 28-3. This season is the 3rd and 4th quarter SB debacle. Next season? Solid answers for righting the ship had better be forthcoming. You don't lose this many games in a row, and do so like we've done, if the problem is exclusively talent or injury-related. I want him to succeed, but am concerned.

Which Atlanta assistants would have been able to come here? The good ones (Shanny, Lafleur and McDonald) all became HCs and Morris/Ullbrich had DC jobs already in 2024

Mike LF was on staff there, but was OC in name only in LA. An easy get if you wanted him in Ashburn. Wade coached nowhere in 2024, but would've been a better TE coach option than Raih. He decided to take 2024 off, then went to Europe to coach this year. On 16 January 2021, DQ asked Bryan Cox to join his Dallas staff (had listed him as a likely get/preferred hire for the staff). Cox declined the offer and actually stayed out of coaching that season. Doug Mallory, who DQ really wanted to coach our DBs, dragged out his decision-making and decided against taking on that role. He hadn't even been offered the DB coach role in Baltimore yet. Like Cox, he would've stayed out of coaching instead of joining the DQ staff. In addition, not a single Falcons Quality Control Assistant from 2015-2020 (feel free to check the names) is currently in Ashburn. There are more.

I don’t think any of the guys you cited are misses based off their recent resumes. I’m glad we have Kliff as our OC rather than a washout like Mike LaFleur. If Sean is really willing to let his OCs leave for playing calling roles, Mike had the previous 2 offseasons to get an opportunity and couldn’t after getting fired with the Jets.

Furthermore, with the bad defenses he had in Atlanta, why would DQ go out of his way to get the band back together here for the defensive staff? That would have been Ron Rivera like.

Norton is more respected than any of these guys and he made the decision to come here after working for DQ in Seattle.

The question posed to me was "which Atlanta coaches would've been able to come here?" Now you qualify it with notions of whether these guys are misses. I answered the question I was asked, though there are more names to add to the "do not disturb" list. I agree that we might be better off without some of those guys, but he still wanted and actively recruited them and they declined.

As for Norton, Gus Bradley was the magic behind the Seahawks LB play. Dude should've stayed a DC. Norton was out of the NFL when DQ called; obviously you wanna get guys you trust, and he trusts Norton.
 
We bitch that Rivera brought his guys with him and bitch that Quinn didn’t (sans JWJ)?

You answered the question. It’s a relief to me none of the guys you mentioned were any names of note.
 
For O, I would've pleaded with Klint Kubiak. That's who AP wanted, but deferred to his HC to pick his own staff. Kubiak is fucking gold. AP should've pushed. Kubiak is lightyears better than Kliff. It's not even close. Todd Haley would've been my Plan B. His offense would've rocked and rolled, too, and not just for one year. He's a bit of an ass, but many of them are. The difference between him and others I mentioned earlier is that he's actually had offers to come back to the NFL, but turned 'em down because they were sinking ships. Tennessee wanted him badly. Wise decision by him and his mgmt. He's had fun in the interim. Look for him to be back next season. BB wants him in Chapel Hill, but he hates Lombardi like most NFL people do.

For D, I would've asked Mike Elko to come join the big boys and be our DC. He's open to it. Somebody's gonna get him.

Yeah man really great steaks and wine, I've been down there a few times.

There's a funny story about Malbec in Argentina. It was one of the 12 Grand Crus in France and died out in a blight. It was never recovered.

There was a guy who was down in Argentina that just fell in love with this local table wine. He asked where it was from and they told him so he went up to the local winery. Evidently the owners grandfather brought original Malbec vines from France and transplanted them in Argentina.

If it wasn't for that guy's grandfather we would not have Malbec today. They have since taken those vines back to France. The 12th Grand cru was regenerated because of one man.

Kinda sweet and romantic story

I might actually be coming down to BA myself later this month. Can’t wait to grab some steak and Malbec myself
 
the last few posts are upsetting me almost as much as this season. I love travelling although I don't travel as much these days with more family obligations. Still, I did get down to Colombia, Brazil, a few other places down South in the past. Never made it to Argentina though. These posts are really annoying me - haha.

That steak...
 
I have never been to Argentina or any place in South America actually. I know a number of people who have traveled to Peru over the past 2 years and loved it.

I take it at least parts of Argentina are safe and there are some beautiful areas. What the recommended must sees there besides the beef and Merlot lol
 
Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela, Peru, Chile, Argentina, Brazil and Bolivia. A few of those multiple times, both business and pleasure.

All over Central America as well, mostly military except Panama which was 50/50. Also Mexico, business and pleasure.

Malbec, not Merlot. Depends on what you call safe every country can be dangerous even here in the US. Most of my time was in Buenos Aires except when I did a three or four day weekend as a gaucho up in the mountains riding horses, camping outside and grilling over a hundred foot long fire pit. That experience was phenomenal. I also went to a couple upscale beaches but the water tends to be cold it's definitely not the Caribbean. I've spent most of my time in the Caribbean over the past 20 years and have become spoiled. Especially now that I live in Miami
 
All it took was last season's success to almost make me forget how miserable it feels to be watching December football between two terrible teams, especially when the desire to see the team you root for win is pretty low.
 
Just noticed this. Does Forbes get some kind of handicap? I'm confused how he can have fewer INTs and be "Tied-11th"
