Random Commanders Thoughts

Which impact players currently healthy enough to be active are being used in a rotation?
J Newton was one he pointed out specifically, along with Bill and Magee. If you also go back to that Atlanta game, the underutilization of Bill was a huge mistake. We weren't stopping them on D, so the O needed to really step up. One of many reasons it didn't was personnel usage.

Bill has been terrible the past 5 weeks and RB is a rotational position. They’ve been giving him 10+ touches a week and he hasn’t done much with them.

Little Johnny is having a terrible season. Has a 53 PFF grade and has generated maybe a couple pressures the past few weeks

Magee has a 48 PFF grade. He needs snaps though. Everyone wants to sit Bobby but it is possible none of the other linebackers are capable of wearing the green dot.

You guys remember the Commanders slogan - “Anybody. Anywhere. Anytime.”

I know it's not exactly the same, and it's kind of a common phrase, but the Cowboys coach said they're ready to play "anybody, anywhere." Just thought it was kind of funny how similar the mentality is. It's a good rallying cry for sure. The Cowboys moves in FA have really paid off for them, with Clowney and Williams.

That was kind of an accidental post -- I meant to write some stuff and actually now deleted the attachment and put the writing in.
I see your edit. It is strange and yeah they have done well for themselves signing Clowney and trading for Williams and Wilson in the past month

The Cowboys signed Clowney the same time we signed Preston Smith.

All slogans go out the window as soon as the ball is kicked off. Sound cool when your winning but I just don't think they do much beyond the initial rallying cry.

While many of us had been clamoring for Clowney who was the best on field fit for our needs

He has 25 pressures/4 sacks in 9 games after missing in camp w a 74 PFF grade

Preston Smith has 5 pressures and a 64 grade

I know there was an outstanding legal issue in SC for Clowney that got resolved but we need to start taking chances on guys like this

Totally not totally random after Friday... Ben Johnson has turned out to be a not so bad coach.

Williams is having some games where he absolutely sucks, but flashes here and there, and they’re still winning. Running game and D is carrying a lot of water for that franchise under Ben Johnson, and they’re winning games even when their high pedigree stacked receiving corps does nothing because Caleb does nothing. Must be nice

3rd easiest SOS in the league, ahead of only NE and Denver.

Exactly, and ours was one of the most difficult, with a 2nd year QB, and damn near everything in primetime. Just fuckin' lovely.

Honestly it looks like Ben Johnson has figured out a scheme that allows Caleb Williams a lot of gimmes to attempt. Lots of screens and quick passes. The West Coast Offense is known as being QB friendly by design, so when you have a roster that features a good defense and running game, it makes sense to not burden the young QB with too much too soon. I haven't seen much evidence (yet) that Caleb is going to transform into a franchise QB any time soon, but I think in the short term the Bears coaching staff is content with limiting what Caleb is responsible for week-to-week.

I expect all 3 of those teams will find out that the slipper no longer fits in the playoffs…just like a similar team did a year ago. But I think that happens prior to any Championship Game.
