Yeah, hopefully we'll find out sooner rather than later, but I have serious reservations. I do sometimes wonder if DQ is so deep into the pop psychobabble steps-to-improve-and-grow stuff that it's adversely affecting his decision-making as HC. That whole career review thing he did was BIZARRE. I know there were plenty puff pieces that applauded him for self-reflection, but despite all the public kind words, there are coaches who just don't want to hitch their wagons to that horse. The Laura Okmin stuff rubbed a lotta league people the wrong way, just found it oddball. Essentially no one from that Falcons staff was interested in joining him in Ashburn in any capacity, except Whitt. And they're all going to stay away.
And then after all that self-reflection and assessment, his first order of business when getting his second chance was to hire Whitt as DC? And sign off on position coaches ill-equipped to coach and develop those in their player portfolios? Why did it take so long to move on from Whitt, when everyone in the league had been whispering it'd never work (listen to Keim's pointed question in Whitt's intro presser, there was a reason for it). Did it take DQ so long because he was waiting for JD Power & Associates to finish yet another survey and evaluation for him? The decision-making is flawed.
Last season was 28-3. This season is the 3rd and 4th quarter SB debacle. Next season? Solid answers for righting the ship had better be forthcoming. You don't lose this many games in a row, and do so like we've done, if the problem is exclusively talent or injury-related. I want him to succeed, but am concerned.
