Scott and Biadasz - are they training to take the punch from Jalen Carter that lead to the 3rd down sack that took down the Los Angeles Rams? To take a punch and hold your ground??

In the meantime, though, his all-important special teams contributions don't get enough mention here. Luke should not be going anywhere as long as he can contribute the way he does there, and I think we have seen enough in the passing game to be excited for the future given what you mentioned. As for Ben, others have said a lot of TEs see increased usage in y2. I guess they have a trust issue with him, it just may be that they have needed more reliable TE performance (blocking/catching) and his experience doesn't afford that. Like you said, crunch time is not the time for honing skills that need a bit of work at the NFL level perhaps.

Yeah but let's see why that was: 2005 - instead of seeing that Brunell had reverted to early 2004-form due to his knee injury, he started him on the road to throw beach balls to Moss (we were in that game!) instead of starting the QB (Ramsey) who beat SF and NYG and was actually healthy and had shown a bit of a clutch gene himself. Gibbs would rather (as shown in TB the week before) have his QB throw 5-19 for 41 yards and almost lose than to simply go with someone who they could have developed a limited (but still more varied) gameplan with to throw for 150-250 yards. No, Ramsey was no the answer but apparently neither was Jeff Hostetler or Nick Foles or Trent Dilfer. Didn't stop them from winning SBs. Absolutely boneheaded mistake by Gibbs to go with Brunell for another game after that one vs. TB.

2007 - QB is the issue again. Todd Collins was probably the best choice but the team was just not good enough and no Sean Taylor.

Post-Gibbs:
2012- this is another team with a legitimate SB (appearance) chance but who lost the QB. After the 2 TD lead, they should have benched Griffin in the hopes that he could recover or that Kirk Cousins could build the lead. But again, health or skill at QB. After that, I know we made playoffs but none of those teams were as good as 2012, 2007, 2005 in my view.

He could have taken the ‘91 Redskins team and turned them into a 7 win team.

He was a bad coach. I don’t care who else was involved. He’s a nepotism hire of Bruce Allen who never should have been hired and a terrible coach.

Absolutely. No one remembers and the site is now nuked but I called for him to be fired and was ecstatic that everyone thought McVay was great. Why not go with the next sort-of Gibbs and who is already in house? Well, of course, we didn't.

I actually checked out during the Jay Gruden era. I felt more hopeless and began to understand just how Snyder was no longer the impetuous guy who would at least make a bold decision. I don't have any personal animus towards Jay Gruden but I absolutely despised that era and I think we wasted those years when we may hypothetically have had a shot at one of the many coaches who became at least decent HCs from that organization at the time.
 
2 things I saw in the snap counts...

McNichols has been nabbing snaps over Ekeler. Ekeler back from his concussion... that first game was his most snaps... its been downward since them. Over that time, McNichols has been getting those snaps. Maybe major nothing to see here but of note, nonetheless. Maybe they saw they need to dial back Ekeler some and if so its working; he has looked fantastic.

The other is the no names we have manning up on the DL. Yeah we aren't missing Philanthropist Mathis. Meanwhile, Sheldon Day and Jalyn Holmes have quietly moved into the rotation and are clearly doing well in giving the big 3 2 time off. Even getting more snaps than Newton last week in our biggest game, which may telling especially to those that loved that pick.

I'm hoping that Kliff has some type of situational play that is designed for Luke and they break out it on Sunday....

EXACTLY. Winning this game against Philly is more important to me at the moment than winning the SB...of course, I'll want more than anything to win the whole dang thing if we escape this weekend with the dub.

The coolest thing happened in the grocery store.
I'm in the self-checkout wearing my REDSKINS beanie. Dude in a Falcons jacket came up and said, "Y'all winnin' the Super Bowl!"

I absolutely could not have been more proud. I bowed up and said, "Yessir, thank you!"

Fantastic. I love how fandom traverses all that otherwise keeps strangers.... strangers.

You could have said.. sorry Raheem didn't call a timeout... we would have loved to have seen the Falcons in the big dance. You had a chance once you benched Kirk.

They call him "coach Rah" here on the radio, he came on everyday during the season.

He failed under Snyder, too.

I giggle a lot. Guys brought up how DQ got fired here...I giggled some more. I wasn't his biggest fan, losing to Brady in the SB.

As I've posted before, I have changed my mind on that. He's got JD5, and JD5 knows how to work. Kirk was just...Kirk.
And I told all of my Falcons friends, "Kirk gonna Kirk." And he did. Color me surprised. :ROFLMAO:
 
We'll see. It could be that Quinn becomes our Bruce Budreau (Budreau dug the Capitals out from being a terrible team, but was never able to finish the deal. Right now, it's amazing that Quinn got us to the playoffs and all the way to the NFC Championship game. If his ceiling becomes like a Schottenheimer and we become a perenial playoff team but not a ring winner then we'll deal with that in three years, but after so many years in the wilderness what Quinn and the team pulled off this year is nothing short of miraculous.
 
Yep. I was 7 when we moved to Sterling Park, 1973. I loved the jackets the cheerleaders were wearing. Threw an absolute FIT in the Hecht Co. when I saw 'em, just had to have one. My dad was like, "Okay"...daddy's girl here. He had taken me to a ton of baseball games, Subway Series.
To this day, I remember the scent of that jacket.

I have NEVER left this team, even for a second. I lived in JAX when they were first trying to get a team, hosted Bud Adams and such. But this team has always been MINE. And I'm sure that everyone here considers themselves an "owner". We own what we've enjoyed way back when, and we own the hatred for the last 33 years.

This season has been our reward. A win on Sunday is the whipped cream, another SB is a cherry.

Btw, the house is shutting down at 2:30...condition Zebra. (Like for Miami Vice on Fridays when I had an apartment with some shipfitters and a hospital corpsman on my ship...no one came or went...and we were the drug house.) :aargh4:

I don’t think anybody answered: he had an internal injury related to his kidneys. I can’t remember if he required surgery but he was taken to the hospital after the game for evaluation. Kidney injuries are not something to be taken lightly.
