Random Commanders Thoughts

I watch GMFB every morning, my go-to. No one questioned our 4th & whatevers. Said it was guts & something about how DQ knew something different.
 
Putting this here as it is very much a thought, with many hypotheticals at play.

In the event that the JD5 effect is too powerful for the Lions to withstand, what process, if any, exists for an away fan who is not a season ticket holder to obtain a ticket for the NFC Championship Game through general sale?

I know tickets will be available through resale at vastly inflated prices. I would consider overpaying less of a barrier than a) the likelihood of beating the Lions and b) permission from the wife. Just exploring the various possibilities at the moment so that I can be prepared to pounce should the opportunity present itself.

If my experience procuring tickets to other sports is any indication, substantially all seats in playoff games go through a "waterfall" of people who have "right of first offer" on the seats - i.e., in the case of the NFC Championship, I'd expect it'll go something like the following: (1) season ticket holders by tenure generally with them having the right to buy "their" seats and then potentially top-up with additional seats, (2) partial or similar season ticket holders by tenure in the same way and then (3) VIPs and others [though this may come before (1) depending on what portion of the seats in the stadium are "owned" by season ticket holders], (4) to "new" season ticket holders who are signing up for the following season as a sweetener to sell the following season's tickets, and (5) if, and only if, there are additional seats available, then to the general public.

Fwiw, in my experience, because the arbitrage is so great and you can so easily make money on these seats, generally everyone who is ahead in line of (5) buys everything they can to either use themselves, give to friends/family or sell.

On that basis, it's been very difficult to get "face" pricing on playoff tickets. Particularly for second/third/final round playoff seats.

Figured this might be the case, but wanted to do my due diligence.
 
Washington can’t host the NFC Championship game since they are the lowest seed still alive. Considering that you are traveling from the UK…not only would you need to procure tickets but also plan potential travel to either Philly or LA. There is also no guarantee at this point that a game would be played in LA. That’s a tough overall challenge.

I thought they reseeded as the playoffs went along?

Seems to me that after the first round, teams should be seeded based on record instead of divisional standing. Then again, it seems that way to me because that would be more beneficial to us.

No sir, once a Wildcard, always a Wildcard.

There are apparently rumors about going to a Seeding by Record approach for part or all of the playoffs as soon as next year but to me that cheapens winning the Division to the point of near-worthlessness.

Flights to philly that weekend are not prohibitive for what would be a spur of the moment impulse act 😀. Appreciate LA may present challenges and I have to consider that I'm a lone traveller, too, wherever the game is held.

The way I see it, it remains a possibility right up until the point it's not, whatever the preventative factor may be. Right now, that's still most likely either a loss this weekend or the death stare from my wife when I bring it up in conversation.

If anyone remembers that April Fools joke or when Art said he was leaving the boards, can they repost the April Fools. Those were some great April Fools.

I think our 4th down aspirations are quite simple. Don't kick the ball. Its conceding the possession before you really HAVE to.

Time of possession was huge vs Tampa. Baker only threw 18 times. He was ice cold and sure enough fucked up two times maybe (doubtful, but maybe) because of it. The OC too. You know he wanted more plays to run his full game plan. And maybe pushed that failed reverse sooner than he would have otherwise giving us a gift turnover. Who know, the human mind works in mysterious ways.
 
Are we truly a "Team of Destiny" that will break the Harjo Curse? I wonder why we don't do something akin to the 1985 Bears "Super Bowl Shuffle" or Joe Namaths Guarantee of The Win if so.
 
Honestly, the "curse" is already broken.

We beat the giants.
We won Primetime games.
We stormed into the playoffs and won a game.

This season is already a success. Nothing wrong with being greedy. I want more, too, but cursed...? Nah, we have outperformed expectations and are living the good life this season.

Yep. And even though it’s not “curse” related exactly, it’s been amazing the number of NFL and franchise records this team has broken.

I do get the argument that one great season doesn’t prove that we’ve moved past… well, the past, but as Conn highlighted, prior futility was about incompetence, etc from the top down. Sure looks like that’s largely in the rear view.
