It’s like waking up from a quarter century nightmare. I remember being despondent one Sunday in 2014 realizing that because Snyder is close enough in age to me, I would never see my beloved franchise competent or competitive again in my lifetime. I am so excited to share this game with my kids. I already heard from my 89 year old grandmother in WV who is the biggest Skins fan I have ever known. It’s not football - it is family traditions. Something that DS never understood for being such “a fan.”

I think Kliff is going to do what is best for Kliff.

Most likely, right now, that’s to stay put.

If there is something which crops up in a year or two which is a better opportunity for him, he will, and should, take it.

The NFL is a business. There is no loyalty. If Kliff comes back and the offense is putrid, he can easily be fired.

Every person has to do the best thing for themselves.

The good organizations have a succession plan so when players and coaches leave for whatever reason, you’re not starting over. Quinn has done a good job building a staff with redundancy.

We’ll be fine. Kliff will probably be here next year, and maybe the year after. Then he might get another opportunity and somebody else will have to step up.
 
Not to mention - the owner is not going to be approaching coordinators and trying to convince them of anything. That's something Snyder would've done. Adam Peters is in charge of this team - all of it.

I was a little annoyed how the announcer derisively dismissed the MVP chants as unrealistic.

One) MVP chants have become common. Let the fans have their fun.

Two) It’s not out of line. Before Daniel’s this was a four win team. Without him, I doubt we get to .500 much less win a playoff game.

Now, Daniel’s won’t be selected MVP, but it’s entirely fair for him to be in the conversation and for his fans to shout it to the world.
 
Agreed that he has done more for his team than Lamar and Allen. It's way beyond any expectations.
I heard someplace that the voting process for MVP is somewhat rigged in that someone like Daniels would not have a shot.
 
As commentators kept mentioning the last time we won a playoff game, it made me think about Joe Gibbs greatness. Many consider Gibbs II a failure. It wasn’t. He was as successful as a Coach could possibly be under DS. He was the only Coach to win a playoff game (99 doesn’t count in my mind since DS took over the same year) and the only Coach to take the team to the playoffs twice under the worst owner in modern sports history. Gibbs II didn’t tarnish his legacy. It solidified it. We were never gonna win under DS. Gibbs got the best that was humanly possible.
 
Always felt that it is difficult to objectively rate Gibbs 2 because of the success he had here during his first stint. The expectations for Gibbs 2 were set too high, as it is much more difficult to pull off what he did winning with three different QBs in a salary cap era. But I also think that if the coach from 2004-2007 was "Joe Smith," that overall timeframe would not be looked as quite as fondly (even if you can make a solid argument that the 2005 team was the best of the Snyder era).

Objectively, there were some huge differences in that timeframe though. Imagine "Joe Smith" winning that game against the Cowboys, their own "Monday Night Miracle."
Imagine "Joe Smith" getting to two playoff appearances in 4-years.
Also, now, imagine that coach being a part of the "Sean Taylor" years: those years had a set of exciting plays and one of the most emotional events for the fans of this team in its long and storied history. Not saying that is a happy moment, but the level of emotion that brings can lead to strong positive emotions, even seeing the team rally and do the salutes to ST that year.

I have thought of that too, and honestly - I think managing what he did under Snyder+Cerrato, at that age after the long separation from football... wow. I think it was a huge uphill battle, and I doubt the organizational culture was pleasant to be involved in, in noticeable ways. As Joe Gibbs, I am sure he was given a lot of deference (since Snyder deferred, I am sure others did), but even that - I doubt it was a "winning" culture at all. He did a lot with very little support of any value.
 
Good points. I just think that "Joe Smith" wouldn't get the leniency for the 6-10 and 5-11 seasons that Gibbs did.

The expectations were too high, and probably none moreso that Gibbs, even if he was only going to be here for not a long period of time, would change the culture of the team that would have long-term benefits. That didn't happen either. Snyder couldn't even bring himself to give Gregg Williams, probably the person most responsible for the modicum of success that Gibbs 2 had, a shot.
 
The Lions open as -8.5 favorites.

That's a big number for a Commanders team that hasn't lost by more than 8 since Week 1.
 
I get it though.

Wouldn’t mind if the Lions got complacent thinking we were a pushover

Yeah, that’s a huge line for sure. But if they can keep under that score so that it’s a 1 score game and get Daniels the ball back late, we all know what will happen next.
 
The Lions are capable of scoring 40 points on good defenses, so I am not surprised Washington is an underdog by a bit more than a touchdown.

I have the feeling that the only way Washington comes out of the game a winner on the road this week is for Daniels to have the type of performance that Josh Allen did earlier in the season against the Chiefs.

On that day not even Mahomes could overcome it.

honeslty, this game will be won before Saturday. Its going to be all about the game plan. I also think Kilff is going to have to out Ben Johnson Ben Johnson. I'll never forget how Jimmy Johnson beat the greatest team ever WITHOUT his starting QB for an entire half:

“If you got a big gorilla and you’re gonna try to beat him, don’t go tiptoeing around. You sneak up behind him with a big ol’ stick, and you swing as hard as you can and hit him in the head.”
