I think the most embarrassing part of the name change was the pretense that they were taking fan input. There's no way Commanders was the top pick. If they would have announced it without saying that we would be a part of the decision I don't think it would have gone down so badly. I mean we would never have been happy because we'd invested so many years into Redskins and every study of indigenous people said they were okay with the name, but it still would have been better.

To this day, I prefer writing Washington over Commanders. Hell, I'd rather us be the Washington Infantry than the Washington Commanders.

Yep, Snyder and Co. did the same dog and pony show on the name change that Abe Pollin did with the Bullets.

Tell me again that Wizards was an 'overwhelming' choice among fans that contacted the organization and participated in focus groups and polling

Both teams need to change their names and rebrand.

Especially as both are trying to come out of very dark chapters in their history where wins and winning were not usually on the program.
