Two words baby - "Winter Rye"

My St Augustine lawn is oversewn with a winter rye mix. When the St Augustine decides it's too cold, the winter rye picks up the slack. My yard is green and my topsoil doesn't slide away every time it rains.

Granted, I mow year-round but I consider that a small price to pay.
Haven't heard of mixing with Floratam ( St Augustine ). Interesting, being Floratam will choke out most weeds and other grasses, but as ya say, the cold must back it off enough for the rye to come in. I ever do irrigation and sod, I'm going with Bermuda grass. If it can hold up on the sports fields here, it good enough for me.

I’ve tried twice to grow bermuda from seed. Treated it like a baby and both times heavy storms wiped it out. I tried but could never find bermuda sod locally.

My son is 33 this is the second year in a row he wanted to go to a caps game over a skins game. In his entire life from about 3 forward I took him to at least one game a year , the last two seasons he opted out, and I even have access to a booth ...

last year I attended 5 home games my wife went 4 times and a friend went one time ... this year I got to one game he didn't want to go. I think he has pretty much given up on the team

I really didn't impose my fandom on my kids. Neither has any interest in the NFL, and I actually think that's quite typical of millenials. My son will watch with me when he's home, and as you can tell from my avatar, we went to plenty of games when he was a kid. He and his girlfriend came with us to the season opener this year, but he's not obsessed like his Dad.

My son was a big fan when he was younger. Not really a fan at all anymore (not that the franchise has given him any reason to care for the majority of his life).

So help a brother out....

Been reading around the twitter verse and social media and folks are talking about all this money we're going to use on Brian Burns or Hunter from Minny....and I have to ask, if they didn't want to pay Sweat, why would they turn around and pay big bucks on a free agent DE?
Someone actually replied that the folks that didn't want to pay Sweat won't be here next year...lol........So Harris and Shen going somewhere?

These folks don't think, do they?

It's Twitter, DP. Having real thoughts is not a prerequisite for registering a handle and saying something. In fact, not having any real thoughts that entailed actual thinking is sort of encouraged.

This is all BS.

Analytics guys know you can’t pay outsized deals to one or two position groups and beggar others.

Under the cap ‘relative value’ comes into play.

Are 3 defensive linemen making big money with solid career numbers better than having 2 with a pro bowl caliber cover corner or left tackle, other positions of premium value?

The answer is no.

That’s why you see a Brentson Buckner trade from SF to Indy a few years ago.

His contract would have overloaded a defensive line with a number of good players that needed to get paid.

There was nothing wrong with Buckner, he’s been Indy’s best DL, you just can’t pay everyone.

Sweat falls into that category.

Perhaps a new GM would have paid Sweat a year ahead of time and traded Payne, figuring he could go into the draft and find a starting DT to pair with Allen.

This front office was scared to take a risk on its own ability to find that player and feared the fallout from trading Payne.

Let’s face it, Phidarian Mathis as a 24 year old #2 pick hasn’t set the world on fire.

In fact he looks even now to be a long shot to take on a major role here.

Yep. I think you COULD sign a high priced DE, but to do so you'd probably want to trade one of Allen or Payne.

I saw this waiting to go into the Caps game tonight. This guy has had this jersey so long and it’s still appropriate.

Based on the play today, I'm wondering if the receivers don't believe in Howell. Seems like the concentration and catching improved once Howell was benched. Then again, a lot of it may have to do with Howell's suckitude. I'm hoping he can get his mojo back. I still believe in the kid. I just probably don't believe in him this year.

I'm now wondering if Howell even believes in himself with how they keep benching and starting him week after week. Rivera is so lost he's now ruining other people on his way out.

It's hard to fault the benching, but I agree with you that Ron is ruining players on his way out.

You're great
Sit down

Kid doesn't know where he stands play to play and is getting beat up out there. I don't even think Brady could succeed with that.

Honestly, I don't think Brady could succeed behind this line. Though Brisset's success makes me wonder if I'm write about that.
