What I am starting to see in Rivera is a lack of accountability. He really has driven the bus over others the past year plus instead of taking things head on as the Head Coach, President, and de facto GM of the team.
He has as much power in this organization as Belichick and Reid have but he still seems at a loss to explain why certain things happen and why the team can't seem to integrate free agents like Jackson III into the fold despite saying at the time 'they are a perfect fit for us'.
One would think with a new starting quarterback that is a pocket passer who tends to take sacks, Washington would have made a greater push to use draft picks and cap space to solidify the offensive line depth.
Instead we see the team target a running back in Round 3.
I was in favor of bringing in Norwell at OG based upon Rivera's review of his work the past couple of years after he made the all-pro team, confirming he could still play.
He looks done.
Again, for me Washington doesn't fail across the board in player personnel. But the 'clearing' rate is 50/50. For every decent acquisition who comes in and is productive if not very productive there is another that is a complete flop or guy that doesn't fit what we do and you wonder why they were a candidate to be brought here.
