Moses is a very good RT. But he is going to be on the wrong side of 30. Better we move on now while he’s still got value. He has been injured a lot but to be fair he has gutted it out and played hurt a lot and should get some credit for that. Not sure he’s a Rivera type player as whatever past dramas have gone on, he always seemed to have something to say.
 
Flowers may have been reacquired for the RT spot, could be why Moses is up on arms.
 
Flowers has short arms and a limited 'punch' radius and that is why moving him inside where he less space to cover ended up with him being able to use his strength and power to greater effect.

I think Moses is simply concerned that strong performances by Cosmi or one of the veterans could have him on the outside looking in. And as the Post article indicated his contract is paid off in terms of future guaranteed dollars.

He probably asked the team for an extension with some additional guaranteed money and Rivera refused to do that.
 
Cowboys are looking to sign Brett Hundley to back up Dak.

Looks like Dallas is planning on folding again in 2021 if Dak gets hurt.
 
I believe it's 3. I speculated a few weeks ago on one of our pods that he could find himself in the crosshairs. He had possibly the best year of his career last year... his value on the market may not ever get back to where it is now, and the $16+ mil in savings over the next 2 years when you have an entire defensive line to pay could become very valuable.

A lot of people speaking to the fact that we're under the cap but unspent money rolls over.. it's not just about 2021
 
I think you're right, but I believe #2 could be involved as well.

Plus, one good year amongst a bunch of poor to mediocre ones doesn't get you in any position to make demands. His penalties and constantly having to be helped off the field due to some injury was just too much in the end. He was always getting helped off just to get back in the game later on....to commit penalties or get burned because he should have stayed off the field.
 
I think that’s undervaluing his abilities and contributions a little. He has been a very good RT, with ups and downs like all OL have but ‘mediocre’? I don’t think you could find an NFL talent evaluator who’d agree with that.

When a team decides it’s time or they are open to moving on from someone, it’s not always a reflection that they don’t think the player is talented. There are a ton of possible reasons or a combination of them. Clearly Rivera is going with youth and they are trying to do what the Patriots have done for decades and move before a player totally declines and has no trade value. Attitude may play a part (and I’ve often questioned Moses) and also freeing up spots for newly acquired players and salary cap room.

I know you already get all that. Certainly Moses is as capable at his position as Kerrigan has been at his in recent years. Both guys are expendable but are still capable of solid play overall. I don’t know why we would view moving on from either any differently?

Comparing a hall of famer in Kerrigan who just got old, to a guy who won't be remembered in 5 years is not fair at all. Kerrigan survived a 3-4 scheme, several coaches, and still dominated. He just got old and replaced by 2 studs. If Young or Sweat were not here he would still be here.
 
It’s absolutely fair. In what world is comparing Moses and Kerrigan, both long-time starters who have been very durable, somehow a diss to either of them?

I love Kerrigan, but he has been largely ineffective in recent years. You’ll point to sacks and that’s not ‘nothing’ but when all you do is rush the passer (because you can’t really stop the run or cover) you should be getting some sacks.

Im not denigrating Kerrigan - he’s been great. But describing Moses as ‘mediocre’ just isn’t accurate.

Honestly, the team would’ve been smart to move Kerrigan a couple of seasons ago when we still could’ve gotten something for him. I argued that then. He was lucky to get signed at all for 2021 which speaks to how most teams viewed what he has left on the tank.

I know you won’t concede you might be overstating Moses deficits. We’ll see what we get for him and that will be an indication of his perceived talent - by folks who are objective :)
 
I am shocked you keep saying Morgan is "very durable". It seems he was getting helped off the field almost every game in 2019. And, the stats don't lie.

Kerrigan had 13 sacks in 2018, 13 sacks in 2017, and 11 in 2016. Trading him a few years ago would have made no sense! He was the most dependable and dominating person on our defense.

I won't concede that I am overstating anymore than you will that you are overly defensive because he went to VA. :)
 
Would Moses have to be a June 1 release? He has 2 seasons remaining on his contract at about 7.75 per for any trade partner to assume providing a new deal isn’t struck.

I am doubtful that another team would take that on and give up a draft pick with 2 weeks to go. At least they let him know.

You’re shocked that I called a player who has not missed a game since 2014 ‘durable’? 🤣

Ive been critical of Moses throughout his career. Criticizing him when he makes a bonehead penalty and calling him ‘mediocre’ are not the same thing though. I’m not a huge Moses fan - but he’s still a very good RT.

Kerrigan has benefitted a ton from teams having to contend with the likes of Matt Ioannidis, Daron Payne, Jon Allen, and now Chase Young and Montez Sweat. This team needed a rebuild badly and frankly it’s come way too late.

Lol… me too! Like I said, what we get for him if a trade is accomplished will at least give us some idea how the NFL rates his talent and worth.

I’m staking out a conflicted position. - I’m fine with them shopping him but I do still think he’s one of our best current O linemen…
 
It’s good to wipe the slate clean.

Yes, Allen was the worst executive in the NFL and players had grievances.

But we have moved on, there is new management and coaching in place and if certain players can’t let go of the past it’s better for all they move on.

Ron has cleared out a mess of guys that had issues like Trent and Josh Norman extending to Quinton Dunbar who inexplicably thought he was Jalen Ramsey and deserved the team’s full attention for his requested contract extension.

Man, we aren't even waiting for trade offers. Rivera isn't here for your shit.
