Random Commanders Thoughts

Just strikes me we haven't really had a good pass catching RB on this team.

Almo was working on it, but was never really natural and now he's gone.
Matt 'butterfingers' Jones isn't the answer, I think he's gone anyway.
Thompson seems ok, but he's not an every down kind of back.
Haven't seen enough from Mack.

A David Johnson would work wonders for our red zone.

Chris Thompson is just okay? Lol

I agree he is not an every down back, of course.

I'm hearing that Pierre and DeSean are likely gone. Also hearing that Kenny Britt is a likely target in FA.

Desean wants to go back to Philthy right? I would like to see Garcon stay a few more but I get it the goal is to get younger.

Regarding our RB situation, I think Kelly & Thompson are good enough for 2017 imho. What we need is a dozer guard and a playcaller who gets a semi for 30 runs a game.

First thing I think of with Kenny Britt is brittle. I see he's played in 16 games the last three years but prior to that he was constantly injured.

Not sure about the money, but I would really like Garcon to stay. Excellent route runner, blocker, and tough.

This is a fun little site for possible available players. Even breaks down estimated market value.

FYI Kirk's is $23M ish a year

That's pretty interesting. I might be able to spend a lot of time on that site. Do you have any clue why DeSean has a 'Market Value' link, but not Garcon or others?

Sorry I don't. Pretty much stumbled upon it Forrest Gump style. I rely on BB and others for numbers and stuff

Garçon is going to look for 9-11 million in base salary to me that might be to high for a 30 something possession reciever.

part of it is speed I've heard he could get 12-14 million but he might take less I'd imagine to go back to philly

I like Thompson a lot. He's got some good speed and a nice skill set. But he's not a blue chipper.

Personally I'm happy going forwards with a FatRob/Thompson/Mack trio.

Unless some truly special falls into our lap through FA or draft (which is unlikely) then we have more problematic areas to fix on the team.

The rumour going around the other day was that he'd prefer to go West Coast. Maybe the Chargers if/when they move to LA.

Apparently he has ties there and would prefer to see out his career in warmer climes.

Not sure how much validity is in there.

Yeah that's high.

He has a lot of intangibles you want on a team though. He was just about the only player to show up last week. He's a warrior, rarely injured. Good veteran voice.

I guess it depends what he gets offered and whether he'd accept any less to stay in our system where he's flourished.

His days of being a number 1 receiver are done...

Unless he fancies Cleveland and a reunion with RGIII. :p

And while we're on the subject...

Thoughts on D Hall saying he'd happily restructure his contract to stay here and play.

I like his locker room presence... but he's old and broken.

D. Hall has unfortunately become the defensive equivalent of Romo.

I'm sure he would. Pass.

I like Garcon - but he's disappeared in multiple games and that was the case last year as well. He's at best a solid #2 on most teams. On this squad he's the 4th best pass catcher behind Jackson, Crowder, and Reed. If it came down to him or Jackson I'd go with Garcon because he's more versatile and I like his attitude and unselfishness. But sounds like he is unrealistic regarding his market value, so I'll understand if we let both of them go. If we do, we'd better be sure that Doctson is going to be 100% healthy next year.

I have two problems with Jackson.

1) he's missed 9 games in three years and even when he does play he's often carrying a nagging injury. He's also had a lot of leg injuries over the past few years. As he gets older how durable will he be?

2) His age. His speed is his asset and generally players that rely on speed fall off a cliff at some point. I think we've seen the start of that this year. I certainly wouldn't sign him to a big multiyear contract.

I like Garçon.
I'm not sure he disappeared so much as suffered through Kirk having a wide choice of targets.
And to be fair same could be said of all our receivers and TE's. Crowder and Davis ended the season quietly. Reed disappeared through injury. DJax was quiet early before suddenly he and Kirk got in rythmn mid season.
At one point I really thought we'd have 3 receivers with 1000 yards but then Crowder disappeared.

It does show what a wide ranging set of weapons we have.

I'd let Jackson go and hope it's West Coast to play in the sun. Not sure I want to play him twice a year if he goes to Philly. But I'd rather someone else take the risk of him when Father Time catches up.

Garçon I think I'd keep until we're sure Doctson works out.

DeSean would be a fantastic fit for San Diego. Rivers throwing him the ball would be excellent for him. I'm not sure their problem is at WR though, so it may be hard for them to use that money on him.

As far as him with the Redskins, I'm fine with him moving on. I don't think he's worth the kind of money someone will pay him. But I appreciate what he did while he was here.
