Random Commanders Thoughts

While it did seem like Gruden was chasing points all day long, and I really didnt like going for 2 so early or the 55 yard FG attempt, I didnt have a huge problem with the onside kick. It just didnt work out. Happens. But I didnt think it was a terrible idea. Shrug.

Jeebus. If I never see another fade route it'll be too soon.

Seems the D is picking up right where it left off last game.

ONLY 10 rushes called and it's mid 3rd quarter?!? Meh seems about right for this staff. Hate this part of McVay's play calling, inexcusable shiz right there

I asked the question this week for a reason.

A defense that is junk and coached like junk.
An offense that commits penalties like it is preseason.
A coordinator that is far above his head.
A HC that can't make adjustments at halftime or in-game.

I'm hopeful that Scot will have the chance to choose coaches he prefers this offseason. I know this won't be a popular part of this thread, but you have seen Jay and this is what he is - someone who can win eight or nine games a season. Undisciplined play and silly mistakes.

Sean McVay should be left in Phoenix - period. He is good between the twenties and nothing more. He should be fired this offseason even if Jay stays.

Meh...championship teams win these games...we're not a championship team.

Been nice to have that pre- game

Media is saying that Jay is going ballistic on the team right now. Too little, too late.

Sean McVay's gotta go along with Barry.

McVay doesn't understand the run game: how or when to use it,nor play off of it.

Barry has the defensive creativity of a loaf of bread.

How many times this year have we wanted to see Barry bring pressure at the end of a game when we have a lead? Cards did that tonight and it won the game for them. I know our line is banged up and that factored in too, but you gotta wonder if Barry learned anything watching the Cards tonight.

Hey let's look at the positives. Hops was money. and our 4th qtr clutch QB gets his long term break the bank deal.

The players know Jay is a players coach. They tune him out with tough talk. All three phases of the game we are consistent on. Plus coaching, more of the same from all phases, what you see is what we got.

I've got a new slogan for Kirk......"How do you like me now?"

I'm ok with Gru. I look at how different this team is now with how it was a couple of years ago. We almost always compete and I feel that this team listens and responds to him. Bar the Steelers game we've been competitive every week and it's been a while since you could say that about our team.

He's only in his 3rd year steering the ship, and there was a lot wrong with it. ShanaClan had lost the team, we had an awful GM, a meddlesome Owner, a broken QB, a serious lack of talent across the board, a vicious media, impatient fan base and a losing culture. He had to turn all that around and personally I think he's done remarkably.

And for all he's done so far remember that we're still a flawed team. This is basically year 2 of the rebuild. I don't count his first season as it was a mess here. Remember what a poisoned chalice this job was? Nobody wanted it. It was only last year that Snyder butted out and Scotty rode in to help. This team still needs another piece on the O-line and an almost complete defensive overhaul. Watching our D tonight I'm amazed we're even in the playoff hunt!! Especially as the schedule has been unfair at times to us.

While this team responds to him and is competitive I want him here.

McVay... I worry about. He doesn't show growth. Same issues with play calling every week with the run being forgotten. I understand that we don't have a superstar running back and our O line is beaten up, but we need some balance. Our winning streak earlier in the season was founded on balanced run and pass. We've gotten away from that again.

He needs to show me he can learn.

I hated the Barry signing when it happened. I know our D needs a talent overhaul but lord we should be doing better with what we have surely? We show these flashes sometimes of what could be... and then it's back to being hashed by the run so badly, and when we key on stopping that they burn us in the air. Cards did that this week, Dallas last week... that's the template to beating us and till that changes teams are going to use that recipe over and over. His track record is bad and he's not impressed since he came here. He's gone as far as I'm concerned.

Gotta call BS on you here Micks...if we had a defense worth a damn, we'd be 10-2 or 9-3 at least. Kirk did not lose that game, Arinas called 2 safety blitzes at the perfect time.

The absence of Trent Williams is what cost us the game.
His absence is what cost us 10 points at least, and the game.

Disagree.

We had enough offense to win this game, the defense gave us no help whatsoever.

Same thing in Dallas: we needed two stops in the second half of both these games and the D couldn't in either game.

No team can win every week by shootout. At some point you have to play NFL level defense. We don't. And we won't the rest is this year. We are half a team until Scot and Jay get serious about the other side of the ball.
