And a couple more in 05.

From 05 to 14 the Pats had at least 3 home-grown high picks (3rd round or higher) on the OL. Some of those years all five OL were NE draft picks.

It wasnt until this past season that the Patriot line fell apart. Basically the window shut, the Pats hadnt prepared for it, and it caught up to them in the playoffs when they had to face an elite DL.

If anything, the Pats 2015 story is a cautionary tale about the hazards of ignoring the OL in the draft.
 
I still can't believe though that NE was able to jettison Darelle Revis and Brandon Browner and go with Malcolm Butler and a host of middle round picks and former special teamers and still be in the AFC title game.
 
Doesn't surprise me, BD. They have one of the top QB's to ever play the game.

Guys like that lift organizations.

That, and the AFC was particularly weak this year. Manning, Dalton, Luck and Roethelisberger all had significant injury problems this year. That's pretty much every other decent QB in the entire conference, outside of Rivers ... and he plays for the Chargers.

While I realize that Alfred is going to probably end up elsewhere in the off-season and would've loved to seen him fit here for a long time...if Allen really said that, he is an idiot. This just isn't the sort of thing an exec should be saying about someone who has given everything ever asked of him. Keep your mouth shut or be more diplomatic about it. No need to tell him or anyone else you aren't willing to pay the man top dollar.
 
For unselfish reasons I hope he leaves and goes to either Atlanta or Denver.

He's now 27 years old (time really does fly) and he deserves to get paid one time during his career. He won't get that here.

Atlanta doesn't need him, but Denver could definitely use his services. He is a much better back than Hillman or anyone else on that roster.
 
Sounds to me like Allen answered a straight question with a pretty straight answer. I have no problem with it.

I think he has a great opportunity ahead of him. There are only a few teams that still primarily use that ZB scheme, but there are a ton of teams that need a starting RB.
 
Well, when he does leave, this team will need another running back.

Unfortunately, I'm not sure this staff would know how to utilize Jim Brown. So, the RB is almost irrelevant.

Yup, I could see him running over our ass twice a year as a Giant.....
 
BA gave him a pretty honest answer without coming straight out and saying "Dude... because you're finished."

I'd like to think our GM and head coach know what they want and need at the RB position heading into year two and will take reasonable steps to make that happen. Alfred certainly has produced in the past, they know that as well as we do. They also have a much better feel than we do as to what they might be able to expect from him going forward, and will base their negotiations with that in mind.

I'd love to have Alfred back--from everything we've ever heard he's a stand-up guy and a fabulous teammate. If he's NOT back, I guess we'll each have to decide for ourselves why that is. Personally, I'll hope it's because they will have decided that they can upgrade the position by going elsewhere.
 
This coaching staff does not seem capable or willing to use Morris properly. And that being the case they should find a guy they are comfortable with. I sure hope they find a decent RB to handle the majority of the snaps next season, or this team will be even more one-dimensional on offense than it already is.

As awesome as McLovin is at finding talent, his first attempt to replace Morris wasn't a hit.
