Random Commanders Thoughts

Makes me wonder where they get their marching orders. People don't just suddenly develop a "conscience."

Probably came from an advertiser's threat to withdraw (assuming the dead rag still attracts advertisers) and/or an attention-grab by the mag itself. Which appears to have kinda worked.

Got my 60" Panasonic plasma the last year they made 'em. We might lose a lot, but we look stunning. :)

Just got a 70" Vizio 4K M-series LED... liking what I see so far, but awaiting how much better the image is than our performance...

I got a 65" Samsung smart tv. The smart portion allows me to stream movies and other things from any computer in my house to it as well as get on the internet to look up things.

Fred Smoot did another reddit ama and is as funny now as he was then. And he still loves his skins.

Are you seeing a noticeable difference in picture quality over 1080p? Even from a normal viewing distance (not just from up close)?

Not particularly and I don't have Netflix, so no 4k content at this time. It "upsamples" everything to 4k, but I can't really tell the difference.

That said, it's a really, really, REALLY nice image that requires some time tweaking for your room and etcetera. If it wasn't on sale when I got it, I'd likely have simply gotten a 1080p television.

Yeah, that's what I've heard from others, too. I'm a pretty nerdy a/v-phile and have a terrific 55" Panny plasma that I love. I have been getting that itch tough for bigger and better. Think I'll wait for content to catch up.

To watch Skins games of course.

(Keeping within the parameters of this thread) ;)

Neighbour has a 65" curved Panny LED, and the picture quality is excellent.

There is a huge oush for the latest technology down here, especially 4K TV's. Trouble is, 4K broadcasting is non-existent here, and there are no plans to introduce it in the future. We can't even get locally produced HD broadcasting (because it's 'too expensive'), so have to put up with US HD programming, or locally produced SD programming. Got me buggered why we even dropped the analog signal as HD programming is hard to come by.

That's what I'd do, too. If I did it all over again, I'd either just have gotten a 1080p set or wait for OLED's to come down... that said I got in on sale and really am happy with the picture. It's just ultimately not as useful as it can be without 4k content.

For 'Skins games, of course... ;)

Wow.... feeling a bit inadequate with a 42" Sony Bravia flat screen.:kick_can:

my 18 month old son has a 40" Samsung Smart TV...get with the times, maaaaaaaaaaaan!!

I've seen the ones Costco sometimes has with the football shape picture. No way am I letting my kids have that kind of personal time in their rooms LOL!

waiting for a major price drop. those SONY 79 inch 4D/HDs are unbelievable. not mortgaging my daughter's education to pay for one! but it sure would be nice to watch in pixilated detail the day Murphy, Smith, Kerrigan or Pot Roast end Romo's career.
