What looks stupid though is the program change was all over the papers and radio for two weeks prior and no one thought to tell Snyder or react until the night before the first broadcast?

Sapienza was fired as program director but the idea behind the 'Man Cave' was dubious to begin with.

The station was trying to attract younger listeners but Reid was a columnist at the Post and was followed mostly by adults over 25 anyway.

QB Colt McCoy is re-signing with Washington, per source. So it's RGIII, Kirk Cousins and McCoy back together again.

Well, since it's what I advocate, I'm not surprised at all. Griff and Kirk already under contract. Colt can come in and play if needs be. Removes QB aquisition from the offseason equation. Unless it be a developmental late rounder, or UDFA to occupy a spot on the practice squad.

However...

I too was thinking maybe it means a deal is in place to move one of the other two, most likely Griffin, and drafting an early QB. Maybe at #5.

I still hope we keep all three. We'll have a definitive answer at QB going into next off-season.

If they waited to cancel the show after Reid quit his job, it was a total dickish-Snyderish move.

But, I won't pile on Snyder until the truth comes out. It may be it was all a coincidence...

thing is they also tubed the sidekick Reid was going to work with and the producer. I don't care about Reid for reasons DM raised. the other guys? room to think twice on that one.

Maybe the producer was given instructions not to hire writers from the Post and he pushed the envelope?

The radio and tv guys like the players are let go from one team and pop up on another.

There isn't the same stigma of being fired that there is in a traditional business.

These guys will all have jobs in a week.

you could be right. I was listening to Chad Dukes (who is not a favorite of mine) explain the situation in depth and he more or less shared that the producer was a good/stand-up guy who got screwed.

I think when you go to work for Snyder you have to be ready to bend over and grab your ankles.

Mixed feelings...although Snyder has earned his reputation, he does pay for a huge forum where fans basically mock and pummel him at will. And he's never lifted a finger to try and squelch commentary on that site, not once. This firing does sound petty, to the extent they waited until the very last minute and fired, not just the guy who didn't deserve to be hired in the first place, but others who probably didn't deserve it.

On the other hand, the idea that Snyder now owes it to his critics, not just to take the constant abuse in silence, but to put 50,000 watts behind it and bankroll his own detractors and attackers, is pretty silly. I also think the team has come to realize that Redskins fans are sick of hearing nothing but vitriol, drama, and conspiracy theories from their sports coverage guys. And as others have said, it's not like many of the existing zebra personalities don't rip and criticize Snyder and company legitimately and openly at times.

I don't feel sorry for Reid - not even a little. The other guys, it's a shame I guess.

One of the funniest things I ever heard was a pole done about Howard Stern.

I don't like Reid, A lot of people don't, but he would have had a hell of a lot of ratings, if for no other reason.. to hear what he was going to say next.

I've had real jerk bosses before but even then I knew not to be caught talking trash on them in public.

Reid was part of a culture at the Post that got caught up so deep in its rivalry (or whatever it should be called) with Dan Snyder over the years that I'm not sure at this point if they could even take a step back and see how it plays among the silent majority of their readers even if they wanted to. Or, how they could extricate themselves from it enough to start resembling a legitimate news source on Redskins matters again, and not just another tabloid.

Reid was a particularly snarky, relentless attack dog the Post sports editors turned loose, but really not all that different from LaCanfora or others that have carried that torch over the past decade or more. Like them he was clearly given a green light to keep the heat turned up on Snyder with no real concern about how it might play to anyone actually more interested in news and analysis more than snark.

I agree that the real interesting thing here is how zebra decided in the first place that putting a designated Post antagonist on the their own air was a good idea, or how it would be tenable over any length of time. SOMEONE appears to have put the potential bottom-line-boosting buzz ahead of common sense. We'll never get the full, objective story unfortunately, so we'll have to distill it the best we can from the inevitable partisan pieces we'll see from the Post itself, and guys like MacKenna, and whoever the zebra people decide is best suited to represent their version of it at some point.

I have a very strong dislike for Jason Reid and his kind.

Having said that, I'm eternally grateful for his contributions in exposing Bruce Allen during that press conference.

Without Jason Reid, there's a good possibility that Bruce is still the GM. Without Reid, our FA acquisitions and upcoming draft selections may have looked much different.

And without Jason Reid, McLovin may not be with the organization for the next five years.

Reid was intolerable, but he gets a big "thank you" in my book.

Reid made that press conference about him more than anything else. He was trying to launch a career somewhere else with that. Just another reason I'm glad they cut him before he got on the air.

Is it possible that Snyder didn't even know of the hiring until last minute? Could he have just gotten word when the show was finally about to air? Is that possible, even likely? If he did it would explain the last minute firing/stoppage. Snyder cuts it off the second he gets wind. Who knows, but I have a hard time drumming up sympathy for someone who is a large part of the reason why I refuse to read the WP anymore. That extends to anyone dumb enough to even hire him in the first place and then cruel enough to force feed him to the DMV. Let him go the way of Wise and J La and find an out of market job. Add Lavar's canning to the list and the asshats who make a bad day much worse are finally losing their undeserved soapboxes. Hooray for sanity! Hooray for Beer!
