This year's top ten features a tweener NT that we may not want to reach for, and a few other players that don't quite match the names of last year.

There is one star FS that should go early, a kid from Alabama. And one of the top two tackles could work.

The Bears grab a safety to pair with Kyle Fuller.

The Crimson Tide has been a talent factory for defensive backs for the NFL, and Collins is the program's 2015 model. In 2014, Collins has 75 tackles with five passes broken up and three interceptions. Collins had monster games against Florida and West Virginia. Against Ole Miss, he was picked on repeatedly and burned for two touchdowns, but it should have been worse as he was all but beaten for another long touchdown before the tight end dropped the pass. Collins (6-0, 215) is a physical strong safety who is good in the box and the short part of the field. He isn't a one-on-one pass-coverage safety.

In 2013, Collins recorded 70 tackles with four tackles for a loss, six passes broken up, one interception and two forced fumbles.

am I reading this right? "If you have DBs who can't communicate and the safety has to pick up a streaking 4.3 wideout.....Collins isn't your guy"

Depends on who you're talking about.

A high draft pick? No please.

A high-profile trade or FA? We'd need a name to have a meaningful discussion.

A mid- or late-round value draft pick? Arguable, but if the value is too good to pass up ... one could make a case.

Not the strongest of drafts unfortunately. He's first at his position.

The top FA names will be Sam Bradford and possibly Mark Sanchez.

Bradford has an injury history like RG3, and Sanchez may stay at Philly.
 
OM...really do hope you are correct. the 80s were a glorious time to be a Skins fan.

not as optimistic as you are. it's hard not to believe, at times, that not only is the organization struggling internally but that there are external forces in play that want the Skins to fail.

I obviously don't agree. I think Colt is the only one not under contract. But it shouldn't be hard to resign him. Robert and Kirk are both signed. Spend time, picks, and money improving the lines and secondary.

For the record, I still believe Robert can be the man. If Robert can't do it, Capt. Kirk can!

If Gruden is this super QB guru that he got his rep for in Cincy he has 2 QBs that suddenly suck that he can spend the offseason tutoring and turning in to the next Dalton.

Maybe that's why he is expecting us to take Peat out of Stanford? The few mocks I had seen showed us taking Collins but the lack of ability in pass coverage and no ringing endorsement of range or play recognition doesn't really pound home a level of confidence for a 1st round pick.

on the other end of the ball Garcon, Jackson, and Paulsen all stopped too. Guess the ol "play til the whistle" is long dead.

I really hope you are right. not out of some irrational emotional commitment to a personality....but simply because I believe he has the best set of tools and highest up-side. he and the team botched up his development. if he is rescued here and flowers into the upper echelon player his resume originally promised...it will be one of the great stories in Redskin's history.

hadn't thought about that. you're right. a rejuvenated RGIII with that o-line?!!! it would certainly make a Colt/Griffin match-up considerably more interesting!

that is not a good comment on coaching. one thing I remember from my team sports days is coaching holding everyone accountable for hustle.
