Random Commanders Thoughts

You think Colt could beat the niners? Yeah..that's funny

I think it's possible we beat the Bucs and Vikings, though I do think you are all discounting the impact that actually having game tape on someone has.

But I don't think there's any chance we beat the 9ers.

So Colt would have prevented the defense from giving up back to back 4th quarter drives to the Vikings. Remember, Griffin led two drives in the 4th quarter to take the lead. That loss is on the defense.

As for Tampa, again the defense gave up a ton of points to the Bucs. But Griffin was bad and things started to avalanche.

In SF, the defense was great and only the QB was bad.

The problem with saying if only x player had played, we would have won, is that you don't know the game would have gone the exact same way if he had played. What if some of those throws Griffin wouldn't make we're throws McCoy makes but turn into INTs setting up SF with good field position. Or what if McCoy puts up some early points and the SF opens up their offense a little more and starts putting up points. The bottom line is we don't know what would have happened if McCoy had played, because he didn't play. On Sunday, we will know what happened when McCoy played against the Colts.

The Redskins lost to the 49ers 17-13 and had three drives in the fourth quarter that ended in three and outs, picking up no points.

While we don't know if Colt McCoy would have lead the team to a TD or FG on any of these drives, I don't think it is too much to say that he might have given us a better chance to execute offensively than Griffin at that point in the game.

Griffin had 19 completions for 106 yards. Those are the John Beck numbers from the ugly Buffalo loss in 2011.

I notice quite a bit of disdain for McCoy in the media and by fans. The truth of the matter is that 2 of the 3 wins this team has was with him as the QB. Griffin is 0-4 and Cousins was an interception machine.

Cousins was a #4 pick, McCoy was a #3 pick so I don't see where Cousins 'pedigree' is so much better. In fact McCoy was a much better college qb than Cousins, despite Shanahan saying he felt Cousins was a #1 pick on his board.

McCoy may be a career backup in the NFL after this season but he also could prove to be a starter. The only sample size we had before 2014 on him was with a Cleveland team that had 3 coaches in 3 years and was God awful on the field.

I recall that Rich Gannon was given up for dead at 28 in the NFL and Jon Gruden resurrected his career and he ended up being an NFL MVP in his early thirties.

You never know.

But what we DO know is that the team has been most competitive when Colt has been on the field and that is enough for 2014.

I'm genuinely happy for McCoy, he deserves a chance....Seriously who is coming out next year that excites at the QB position? As a Skins fan it wouldn't suck if McCoy solidified the position for a year or two. I don't think that's such a longshot.

Yeah I do...I think Cousins would have beat the 9ers as well, interceptions included. I'm not a RG3 basher in fact I've been patient with him the last 3 years but he has been very John Beckish the last 3 games.

"While we don't know"

That's all I needed to hear. People just hate Griffin and have a crush on the next flavor up.

Nobody hates Griffin.

Fans just hate the way he's playing.

IMO , most fans have hoped and prayed he'd get out of his funk and it hasn't happened......and frustration ensued, naturally.

But keep flinging dung against the wall...it'll eventually stick.

Hey, you can nitpick and try to pick a part the entire quote if you want. I'm sure eventually you'll morph it to fit it in to what you want.

The things I've heard about him in the media and on here have been pretty brutal and it's not hard to make that correlation.

It is frustrating as hell to watch Griffin try to run this offense...an offense he's supposedly been studying since last spring.

He still can't make basic reads or even get guys lined up right.

Bob likes to tell us that all he does is study and watch film while he's been laid up. This time around, it's been watching film of Brady,Peyton and Brees, to learn how they approach the position.

If all this is true, why does it never show up on the field? Does the guy even know how to watch game film?

Is even the basic,Day One offense too complicated? How is it that he doesn't even know what drop goes with what route?

Is it ALL on the coach? According to Mike and others that seems what you're implying.
Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Joe Theismann went to Joe Gibbs house to iron out things between himself and Gibbs. Has Griffin even walked across the road?

Where does Griffin's responsibility and accountability come into it?

May I just humbly and respectfully suggest that we all simply show some degree, any degree, of support for the guy who is currently the starting QB of the team that we are a fan of, at least until he has given us a clear reason not to ? So far, he has not given any such reason. Not during his Redskins' tenure.

Mike, if Griffin had been a third round draft choice and you saw him playing this way out of the chute you would have said to yourself 'I have doubts this guy will ever be a solid NFL qb'.

The fact he won the Heisman and was taken #2 overall continues to give him gravitas that his performance on the field the last 14-15 games hasn't earned.

At some point we have to forget about the picks given up years ago and the draft position and focus on what we are going to do going forward.

The Seahawks gave up multiple high picks for Percy Harvin, realized over the next year plus they made a mistake, and dealt him away and moved on.

As an organization you just can't continue to brood over mistakes. This team did that for 2 plus years with Albert Haynesworth, only to recoup a #5 pick from the Patriots for him when the Titans were going to give us a #3 pick the previous year during the draft.

He wasn't a 3rd round pick
He balled in 2012 and won the division
He's had 3 games in this system

Haynesworth has nothing to do with Griffin but to make him look worse.

When did I ever say it was all the coaches fault, DP? if you're going to say I said something I'm going to demand you show the quote.
Theismann and his antics have nothing to do with 2014 and Griffin. Just because he did something you like doesn't mean everyone has to do it.

I said you seemed to be implying that it's the coach's fault and if Im wrong, feel free to correct, which you seemed to have.

You still didn't answer the question: Where does Robert's responsibility and accountability come into the equation?

Before this season, I was looking forward to Robert making his mark directly against the other young gun QBs..... Wilson, Kaepernick, and Luck. Made for TV. Oh well.

I along with a lot of yall have a Griffin jersey, what will you do with it if he is gone next year? That thought just entered my mind. My first jersey I ever owned ugggg.......

Just keep it as memorabilia and remember the good times. I doubt you will be wearing it again.

Wow, kel. Remind me to ask you to talk to my kids about santa and comic book heroes
