Random Commanders Thoughts

we need a big time safety and there is rebuilding to be done on both lines.

I think a telling & disturbing sign of Jim Haslett's ineptitude was when we saw Perry Riley, Jr. covering Mike Evans downfield on a 56 yard Touchdown pass play. Not that there aren't a number of other plays that we can draw from, but if I were sitting in the owner's booth watching this game, that would have been the play - today - that would have gotten my attention, & the not so good kind.

Once again...it may be the case that the FO needs yet more tweaking. this team remains dysfunctional.

I'm gonna say this over & over again, I can see it coming. We need to be patient. We knew there would be bumps in the road. We knew there would be growing pains. We MUST remain solid in our resolve to keep RG3 in his starting position, the HC in his position, & the current players that are really our playmakers (ie. Alfred Morris, Garcon, Jackson, Kerrigan, etc.) & build around these players with young talent. I am sick of the revolving door without any real resolution. Different players, same results when we do that. We need to continue showing our support for RG3 & Gruden, IMO.

Abba reinterpreted (not that I ever listened to them): "We are the drama queens"

let's use the rest of the season to figure out who wants to play and can play. clear out the rest. shoot for 8-8 next season...and play-off runs after that.

Haven't you figured out, 8-8 wouldn't be acceptable to a lot of fans. The only things most fans would accept is 19-0 and winning every game 56-0. Anything short of that and the QB needs to be changed, the coaches need to be fired, and other various players need to be cut.

The scapegoat that Griffin is with this team is amazing...even for this team who loves blaming their quarterbacks for everything.

Griffin is professional
He does what is asked
He's learning
He accepts responsibility
He gives credit

Everything that has been asked of him he's done. But somehow Mccoy or now Hoyer is better.

Agreed. It's nice to come here & actually read things from people who have real football intelligence, as opposed to what idiots are crying on Facebook.

Who's going to be the first to bring up Winston?

That's already going on in the "2014 NCAA Football" thread.

well...we tried that multiple times...as you imply. with known results.

Gruden is in his first year. I get angry as well during the games....but what the heck....let's ride this one out to the end to see if anything develops.

So the fans will root for McCoy after he flops ? Holy shit, if that's the case, they might actually root for the other FAILED Qb's you'd like to bring in.

So it's flavor of the week for you from here on out I'm guessing...

I've never been flavor of the week. It's very simple:

1. Pay the option for a single year for $18-$19 million and hope things improve. People went crazy rolling the dice on Orakpo. Draft linemen.

2. Cut ties if we don't believe he's the answer. Spend $18 million on additional players, and draft linemen.

3. Cut ties and draft a QB. Use the savings on additional players and draft linemen.

McD...I really don't mean to call you out or call you something that you don't believe you are..but let's look at some of the ideas you've had recently.

Bench Morris for Silas Redd
Trade for Josh Gordon who is not on any roster
Trade Griffin and move up to get Winston in the draft.
Ladell Betts

Can you see how it kind of screams flavor of the week from where I'm sitting?

If anyone wants to evaluate McCoy, he has two years of tape from his days in Cleveland. This is the time to play Griffin and evaluate him. Whatever the cost of the option after next year, or signing an extension, you have to let him play and see what he can do. His best is light years better than anyone else on this team. If today was his worst, it's still not as bad as what we saw from Cousins. As for McCoy, you can go back and look at his worst from Cleveland. It's up to these coaches to see if they can get the best out of him, and the rest of the season is a good time to find that out.

I agree with this! As I have said...many times, I believe Robert Griffin will not amount to much as an NFL QB outside of a scheme that fits his ability...an ability that is diminished with the injuries sustained in his short career and a scheme far different than Gruden's. But the idea of putting McCoy in there to see if he's the answer is absurd. Griffin gets the starts from here on out unless he is hurt. If he is playing poorly in a game, maybe yank him, but he is the starting QB and should be through this season with the opportunity next season. We have to know if the slide in his performance from his rookie season is an anomaly. I don't think it is, but it has to play out on the field.

However, I think this is unfair. I am not sure this is a realistic expectation from anyone. I can only speak for myself though, so I could be wrong. Before the season started I said 8-8 would make me very happy...that 6-10 was realistic. If we implode from here on out like we did last year, we know it isn't entirely on Shanahan and that there will need to be some house cleaning in the off-season of the players who are bringing us down.

Gotta appreciate your enthusiasm, but we have been exactly where we are now for 5 of the last 6 seasons.

I really can't, no. Although I do see it in the Silas Redd suggestion.

All of those, like trading Portis for anything when it was clear to even Stevie Wonder that his career was about to end, were suggestions to improve the talent on our roster in the future.

Ok..I was just trying to get a gauge on where you were at or if you saw what some of us do.

It's cool..we each have our way. But Gordon is still out of the nfl, morris is still beasting.

Moot point? The decision has to be made prior to the beginning of next year. We have six real games left and the offseason to evaluate him.

What in the world are you talking about? Next year is his forth year, thus he is under his rookie contract. If we want to keep him after that we can, there are many options for us to do so. 5th year option, shit we can franchise him if we want to.

But by all means keep panicking and freaking the **** out. Morris's contract will be up too, lets freak out about that. Wait, what other contracts will be up? This is ****ing stupid.

That was meant as pure satire in response to a lot of fans who are never happy. Most realistic fans knew this would be a tough year.

True, but RBs are very easy to replace, and knowing if a Gordon, Trent or Sleepy will smoke pot again is a crapshoot. Trent and Gordon are both extremely talented. Sleepy wasn"t.

You comparing trent to Gordon isn't fair. Trent hasn't been busted again and is still on an nfl roster. Gordon is trying to sell cars because he is suspended. Trent also has more time in the league while Gordon has both busts close together.

If running backs are so easy to replace why didn't Helu maintain the starting role or get it back from morris? Why isn't redd able to beat out morris?

Answer...they aren't as good as morris.

It's true.

I don't see anyone on this site panicking. Except maybe your post.

Things changed with the new CBA. We have to decide before next season begins.

And we can franchise him that 5th year if we want to.

While we could, and I get your frustration...you know how much that would cost us? He is not worth a franchise tag and wouldn't be even if he had another season like his rookie year. That is top 5 QB money.
