So, I just finished a second FF draft. Really good players, including two former collegiate players, and one from FSU. These guys know their stuff.
One thing stood out. Pick #119 was up. And RG3 was still on the board.
I already had a great QB, or I would have taken him at 90 or so.
"No RG3 love?" I typed.
The responses were incredible. I wish I could copy and paste what followed.
Player 1: "He's an asshat."
Player 2: "Biggest douche in the league."
Player 3: "His career's over."
Needless to say, I spent the next three minutes questioning their responses. I took special offense to the douche comment.
Me: "Biggest douche in the league?"
Player 2: " He's the only guy in the league with his own logo. Russel Wilson just won the SB. No logo." Drew Brees, no logo. He's a douchebag."
He was finally taken at 128.
After the draft was over, I saw a message from my brother, a 52 year old lifelong Redskins fan.
"What the hell's wrong with RG3? Did u see the USA Today article? WTF is wrong with that guy?"
So I just read the article. Personally, I understand what RG3 was trying to say, and what he meant.
But I also now have a better understanding of why other fans around the league dislike him.
"I guess if you want to say it, we have a lot to prove to ourselves within this building," Griffin said. "It's about all of us going out there and being successful. Like I've said many times this whole offseason, they go as I go. If I play well, we play well. If I don't play well, we don't play well."
Athletic arrogance? Check.
Bell: Robert Griffin III has plenty to prove, even if he's not admitting it
