Yeah, I'm willing to ascribe more blame to the OLine and Griff's injury than Robinson's lack of skills. I thought he was quite promising the year before. I wouldn't be surprised if Gruden keeps either of them, or if he cuts both of them, honestly.
 
Mike - do me a favor and avoid the 'called out' and 'hated on' descriptors. Some of us respectfully disagree with you - and that's all.
 
I think you guys are giving short shrift to this being just his 3rd chance to play a full season. There are lots of really good WRs who took several seasons to start being productive. Saying we've definitively seen Robinson's best in 2 years of play - I'm not ready to say that. I also think we can't just judge by #'s as having a guy like Reed and better WRs across the board, the opportunities are going to be spread more widely which is a great thing.
 
Mike, are you under the impression that some of us want Moss to be cut? I don't think anyone here is saying that. If you want Moss to stay on the team over Robinson that's great.

Some of us are just saying that if Moss did get cut we'd understand why. He wouldn't be the first old guy to be cut for an unproven youngster in the history of the world.

Henry, I am under the impression that in a discussion of Moss vs Robinson you lie on the Robinson side. I have seen you post several reasons why he SHOULD be cut for Robinson. I am not blind and know he is on his last leg...I just dont see Robinson being the guy that pulls the chair out from under him is all.

Personally, I'm not on either "side". Whoever wins out in camp gets my support. I won't be surprised if Moss gets beaten out, nor will I be surprised if he finds a way to hang around.

And just to provide some context...

Moss' first 2 seasons:
Season 1: 2 catches for 40 yards, 0 touchdowns
Season 2: 30 catches for 433 yards, 4 touchdowns

It wasn't until Season 3 that Moss exploded for 74 catches, 1105 yards. That doesn't mean that Robinson will follow that trajectory. It's highly unlikely (not only because great WRs don't come along every day, but also because he's going to get less opportunities in 2014 and beyond because of his competition, not more). But it does demonstrate my point that calling a WR a failure before even their 3rd season has begun may not always be wise.
 
he played 2012 and 2013. this will be his third season.

in the year where we all looked good (2012) he got 237 yards in 15 games. that is a telling sign to me when he got 25% of his yards on one play. but half of the games of that season he had zero receptions.

in 2013 he had 8 games with 0 receptions as well. he did almost have a 100 yard game against a horrible ATL defense when it was all but over.
 
I've said this is his 3rd season like 7 times :) When I say he is a rookie with an extra year of experience, that's saying the same thing. His 2nd year was essentially his rookie year, he's had 1 more year (where the WRs save Garçon all sucked - yeah Moss was better but he also got much more playing time and is a vet so he should be further along - we know his upside, it's Robinson's that is not 100% clear yet).

In Moss' 2nd year he had two games with zero catches, 3 games with just 1 catch, and 7 games with just two catches.

You have to admit that the first 2 years of Moss' career look a lot like Robinson's. That doesn't mean much except that it can take awhile for it to click with a young WR.

I can't believe I've spent this much time on this one - my main point is that WRs take time to develop. Just because a number if guys in recent years haven't progressed into starters doesn't mean they can't. The Jets could've cut bait on Moss after year 2. There wasn't a lot of evidence he would be a decade long starter at that point.

I can admit that, sure. But this isn't Moss' first 2 years anymore and Robinson is not on the same level as far as WR type. He just isn't. We can argue ifs, potential, could bes. those are fine for a good debate, but when you want results now you go with the guy who knows better and does more.
 
I love how long the debate of Armstrong vs. Moss has taken in this thread.

I would argue we may (may) have a competitor with the guy we took in the draft whose name I'm forgetting. AND all three of them will rarely see the field.

So ultimately, who cares?
 
its the off season...we all care because there really isnt much else to discuss. and this is what friends do...we sit aruond, shoot the shit, tell some lies, and argue football.

How much of a pay cut will he take from his $5M+ he was due this year? I dunno but probably less than the Skins could offer without a right now cut. How many teams looking at him; three or four right now? Don't know that he will pan out being worth what he's gonna collect on payday.
