Random Commanders Thoughts

I can't shake this feeling about the DT position. I know there has been some speculation with a few of the Redskins pundits out there.

I'm thinking we trade that extra fourth rounder for a really good DT out there. Someone specific. Maybe a fifth. A sixth? Possibly, but the quality may not be there with such an offer.

I have no idea who the Skins would target. This is just a feeling.

I also wouldn't rule out the team adding a DE after June 1 cuts or during training camp. Again, just a feeling.

Rome wasn't built in a day, nor can every aspect of the team be resolved in 2 off seasons after the debacle that proceeded it. I've got my issues with Gruden, his play calling still irks me and his disastrous first year with the media left me more than shaking my head but atleast for once we seem to have a plan. When's the last time we had a plan. They often say it takes 3 years, it's Gruden's 3rd year and Mcl 2nd, it's one thing I've learned from being a Skins fan, patience, cuz sometimes that's all we've got.

I agree with you BB on the DE. But we already have our DT.

Scroll back to an article I just posted about our new DT.

And remember, McLovin found Kam Chancellor and Richard Sherman both in the 5th round. He found Byron Maxwell in the 6th. Crowder in the 4th.

Also remember how D-line heavy this draft was. Our DT--taken in the 5th--might have been taken in the 3rd in a normal year.

And a 3rd round taken by McLovin might be a 1st or 2nd round talent in normal years that others passed by.

I'm thinking more for depth or helping the rook early in his career. Again, it's just a feeling. I'm hooked on it. Oonga chaga.

I think this is what Tr1 is worried about: Redskins' defensive line faces questions after quiet offseason

And I know all the counter arguments (as does he, I'm sure). But the fact remains that we lost two contributors from last season's horrendous run D and have replaced them with castaways and low round rookies. As Keim says, IF lots of things break right, we could be in good shape. But there are a lot of "ifs" in that article.

sometimes fixing other areas will help out bring that number down while we had a big number there another area no one mentions is we gave up 48 percent of all passes thrown past 15 yards which was worse in the NFL

Let's harken back to the 1980 draft, where we find a very young tr1 discussing the Redskins.....

"Bobby Beathard is a clueless idiot! He first hires some unknown guy to coach that used to be the Offensive Coordinator at Tampa Bay. Tampa Bay!! He's a loser! Now he drafts some running back from Syracuse named Monk and they're gonna try to convert him to wide receiver. They clearly have no clue as to how to select personnel.

If I were running things and wanted a receiver,I'd have taken an actual receiver like Ralph Clayton or Kevin House...maybe I'd have drafted Mark Malone for QB? But this Beathard guy thinks he's a genius... he can't draft for crap."

McLovin drafts Kam Chancellor in the 5th.

"Why the hell didn't they address the safety position?"

He drafts Richard Sherman in the 5th round.

"Why the hell didn't he get us a cornerback?"

No, BB, no.

You must have absolute faith in McCl. We have no deficiencies. It's in your head. All has been addressed. An underweight 5th round rookie will fix our run defense.

And, remember...if the team doesn't improve this year, there's always next year...and, the possibility of a new coach. And, he may have to bring in his guys...and, that could take a few years, you know.

Patience.

There's genius at work.

Right. Cause that's what everyone said. You really are becoming very trollish, which is unfortunate. No one said MCl is infallible, or that every move the team makes its the right one. Snyder will own this team until he dies. If you can't come to terms with that maybe you should follow McDs advice and take a break.

We are all friends here. It ought to be fairly easy to discuss differences of opinion without all the snark and sarcasm. Life's pretty simple. Try not to be a dick. People will respond better and hear what you have to say. That's just the way it works - for all of us.

It's becoming more and more difficult.
I hear ya, he definitely needs to at least improve on his radio skills.
A little less stepping on others and he always blows up the microphone, the guys in the booth must hate that.

You guys are overly critical imho. Cooley marches to his own beat. He doesn't filter. I kind of like that about him.

I am not worried about the lack of a filter, nor am I concerned with calling people out, he simply acts too childish at times. That is what annoys me.

My beef as mentioned before, is his on the air radio skills.

Intentional or not, he has a tendency to 'barge' into conversations, blowing up the Vu meters.

A thought immediately fires off the mouth, which is ok but he doesn't modulate his volume before he speaks.

Here I am just sitting on the sidelines waiting for the Olympics as its the only thing tolerable between now and football season.

Its either I stay away from the football news until something significant happens or continue to read stories over analyzing what shoelace Cravens put on today.

Offseason sucks so much its become a black hole.

Jeff George's bbq, looks good but will tear you apart
