If it's me, I'm calling Detroit, and talking to them about what their plans are. Trading out of two, then looking at a package to get back up to 3, retaining some of the picks we grabbed. That gives me Isaiah Simmons, and adds draft value... hopefully keeping at least an additional no. 1 and adding a no. 2 in the process.

100% correct. Err, 99.99999999% correct. It's stupid for reporters to state anything that hasn't happened as 100% certain. I remember in 2006 when it was 100% certain the Texans would take Reggie Bush. Then a day or two before the draft, we learn that they are starting contract negotiations with Mario Williams. I don't think teams act like this, but if the Redskins don't plan for the possibility of the Bengals not taking him, they are fools.
 
Half the fun of the draft for me is knowing there will be some shocks, some 'huhs?!', some incredible steals that fall into some team's laps, and some disasters. I get the 'media' guys get tired of the crazy 'what ifs', but honestly, it would be pretty boring if we knew exactly what was going to happen at every pick before it happened. Every year there are major surprises... so I would never be 100% authoritative in making any prediction.
 
Daniel Jones was selected by a team where he was endorsed by the powers at be.

His performance was a focal point of the Giants in their offseason preparations while Haskins was not considered relevant by HC Jay Gruden.

The one thing I noticed about Jones on the field was that after a fast start he came back down to earth during the season in re turnovers and mental mistakes.

Meanwhile Haskins seemed on an opposite trajectory, improving from start to start and generally gaining confidence so by the end of the year he looked like a different player.

Jones entered with the advantage of the number of games he started in college vis a vis Haskins and appeared the more fluid player when first getting on the field but again the gap seemed to close as Washington coaches embraced Haskins and made his development a priority.

Now if the Bengals take Chase Young at #1 and we are looking at Joe Burrow who to me is better than Tua as a potential #2 I have a real question as to what to do.

The haul for Burrow could be substantial but his upside may far outstrip Jones, Haskins and Murray from 2019.
 
if we take Burrow at 2 and still have Haskins it will be the 2nd time he replaces Dwayne. That would be BRUTAL!!
 
Was going through some old videos trying to find clips of Mike Curtis to create a post to honor his passing, when I came across this.

Of course he couldn't, but if Sonny starts Super Bowl 7 we win.

Hell, even if Allen would have let Sonny be on the sidelines for the game, he quite possibly could have helped Kilmer out, and we win the game.
George Allen, as a whole, was a great coach for us. Warts and all.
But when it came to Sonny, he was a total, class A dickhead.
 
I'm just guessing, but Sonny might've had something to do with it as well. That's usually the case with these kinds of things.
 
Sounds to me like the ‘Skins gave them time to find a suitor they wanted, now they get nothing and like it... or sent to Cleveland. Same thing,

I was wondering if his douchebag agent has been either stalling or sabotaging a potential trade for Trent thus far. Possibly RR said something like, ‘you had your chance, now it’s our turn’ type scenario?

I'm all for Chase. Just asking for some feedback. I watched some film on Bruce Smith in College and the Pros the other day. He was something else. Is Chase in his league - let's say as rooks coming out of college? There's been a lotta talk about generational...but compared to whom?
 
I don't know how anyone can say a college player - any college player - will be a 'generational' talent before they've played one NFL down? He was by all accounts dominant at the college level and I've heard multiple NFL talent scouts describe him as one of the highest rated athletes they've seen at his position.

But time will tell.

These things never seem to work out for us, so putting so much stock and faith in one player makes me nervous. There is also the fact that most of the guys he's been compared to have not been difference makers at the NFL level in terms of their team's overall success. Folks constantly repeat the mantra that 'pass rusher is the 2nd most important position after QB' and that's accepted as a fact. Yet I saw a stat today that teams without a top pass rusher won 66% of their games over the past 3 years, and it's clear that just having a dominant player at that position does not equate to a winning record.

What I'm hoping, if Rivera and Smith do stand pat and select Young, is that not only does he live up to his rep, but his presence on the defense elevates that entire squad to an elite level. I think it's possible, with the significant talent we already have, Chase Young and our new DC could make our defense the terror of the NFC East.

At some point, our luck has to change. Could this be the year?

We draft Young, and he DOES live up to expectations. To go along with another solid overall draft.
We actually fleece another team when trading Mo Money Williams.
The horrific number of injuries subside to an NFL average level.
We have a real head coach, not named Gibbs. And a DC that actually has a clue!

Not a reason in the world we can't be in the mix for the division.
