I know it's conjecture, but I bet they still would have won Championships with Rivers. They did not win because of Eli. He was a part of the team and has grown leaps and bounds, but I believe they did not win them because of Eli. Trent Dilfer could have won championships with the Giants, at least the first one in the 07 season.

As Goaldie pointed out, Rivers was QB of a team that was way more talent-stacked than the Giants in his career, and he never even got them to an AFCCG (EDIT: got them to one AFCCG).

And I disagree that Trent Dilfer would have won with the 2007 Giants. Dilfer won on a team that was literally the best defense in NFL history, and he had a Hall of Fame TE/WR to throw to and a stud RB to hand off too. Did you know Dilfer wasn't even the leading passer on the 2000 Ravens?

Trust me, I hate defending Eli with the fire of a thousand burning suns, but the kid can play QB.

Anyway, as you said its all conjecture. They have the 2 SB trophies (thanks to or in spite of Eli, depending on your opinion) so the question still is valid. I think they don't regret "mortgaging the future" for Eli one bit.
