PFT: Gruden says the “clock’s ticking” on Griffin

Trent Williams to the FO: "Hey guys, my parents are in town and would love acess to the locker room and VIP booths like RG3's parents get. My wife would also like to use the plane if possible to fly out to our next game."

FO: "Sorry Trent. We only have limited seating. But go give em hell this Sunday."

Are you making the shocking allegation that franchise QBs get more attention and consideration than offensive linemen do? I would prefer Griffin be humble and be treated like every other player - I support Gruden in terms of that desire. But let's not pretend that this isn't pretty much typical on every NFL team in the league.

Made up stories are not worthy of this site IMO.

Meddling and privileges are two separate things. I have never seen a single documented instance of Snyder telling his head coach what football decisions to make.

Btw, I apologize for my own snark - since I ask others to try to avoid it. I understand your points McD5, and I am no Snyder fan, I am just trying to point out that how factual the 'Interfering Owner' legend is, is still an open question. I would think if Snyder were really trying to tell his football coaches over the years what decisions to make, we would know all about that, and yet there is not a single incident I am aware of where that allegation has been made. Except by the media that is...

He's the owner - I imagine all owners have some input into the direction of the franchise - I don't know that this is shocking or wrong. But to answer your question, where's the evidence (beyond the media implying it) that RG3 is not who Shanahan wanted to draft and that he was forced to draft him by Snyder? Do you really think Shanahan would tolerate that kind of BS? Or that we wouldn't know all about it if it had actually happened?

Also, don't you think Kyle was fuming when RG3 was being coddled? Sounds like interference to me.

No - it sounds like preferential treatment. I'm not defending that, but that's a far cry from telling the football coaches what to do on game day. Those two things are nothing like each other and I think we can all agree on that.

Being a 'dick', arrogant, or not having the sense not to show preferential treatment to players are all bad things. But they don't constitute interfering with football decisions.

And whatever the relationship between Griffin and Snyder, what does that have to do with the team's, offense's, and Griffin's performance on the field on Sundays?

Nothing. That's what.

Do you really have to ask that question? It's the relationship between Head coach and QB, Head coach and owner, owner and QB. Snyder chose Robert over Shanahan after the debacle last year. Will Robert get Gruden fired? I maintain that what I am reading in the latest presser from Gruden is that he is directly challenging anyone in the organization who may be influencing decisions by saying, "Look, Robert plays poorly again, he sits."

As far as Shanahan is concerned, yes...I agree. He's a dick and his friend in Denver cut him loose. So last year, I automatically deduced it was Shanahan being Shanahan. But here we are with a new head coach and we're talking about the same thing...the relationship between Robert and his coach because Robert does not appear to grasp the offense the coach is running, Robert's relationship with the owner and how all that affects the decisions on the field.

I do not know what is true. Again, I can only deduce. So looking at the situation we are in here, what is the constant because Gruden does not seem to have the reputation Shanahan did.

Then why did you post a "made up" story about Jameis Winston on this site? A story that has been proven blatantly false...then suggesting there had to be some weight to it because Jameis has made so many others mistakes.

Brian, keep your personal feelings off of this site.

I posted a link in the proper forum. I suggest you do the same.

I assume it happens to some extent on many of the teams in the league.

So why stop it here? I can only assume it's because it was done to such an over-the-top, disrespectful, tactless manner that it's become a big problem in the locker room.

If that weren't the case, would this even be an issue that they've stopped?

Personal feelings off the site? Give me a break! This coming from the most emotional poster on this sight.

Pot meet kettle!

Like I said...keep it off the site. I haven't quoted or even cared to talk to you.

Do the same.

You can assume that. I look at it as a first year head coach who is in over his head and doesn't have a clue how to manage people.

I've had great managers, piss-poor managers and everything in between. This bullshit paints Gruden far more in the latter category in my experience.

The latest story coming out of our locker room is exactly what we need. A head coach who is treating his underperforming QB the same as he treats the rest of the locker room. He's apparently got the power to bench Griffin if he's not performing well (not sayin i want it to happen, but i do want the coach to have the power to do it) and an obvious backing of Gruden from Snyder. THIS IS WHAT WE NEED folks. I'm sorry. What more do you want to happen? I like it, and I hope and pray it's true. Obviously we wont truly know, but the next couple weeks will give us an idea to see who is calling the shots down there in Ashburn. My personal opinion is this is the thing that we've needed from an organizational standpoint for a LONG LONG time.

I agree. It will seal his fate forever if he's benched but maybe we need it.

Colt will get destroyed in SF though. This game will be brutal with our line and their D.

I am fine with Griffin being benched, and agree that Gruden needs to have that power. But Gruden needs to shut his damn mouth and keep this noise in house. If Robert overcomes this bullshit and has a good game today, he needs to be given appropriate credit.

I don't like Snyder. I wish we had another owner. But because he's a bad guy, doesn't make true every piece of excrement the media decides to throw at him. Everything you are saying about the relationship between Gruden-Griffin-Snyder is pure supposition. You may have suspicions, but there is no evidence Snyder is influencing football decisions. It's one thing to say 'this isn't a good situation'. It's another to say the owner is directly trying to interfere with coaching decisions and the relationship the coach has to his players.

I have no problem blasting Snyder - I just think we should stick to blasting him for things there is evidence he's done, like show Griffin preferential treatment. And again, what does that behavior ultimately have with performance on the field?

You're pissed, and that's fine. But the HC has nothing to do with any preferential treatment from the owner to a star player. Nothing at all. This is no reflection on Gruden.

If I'm driving in my car and I'm not speeding, there's no reason for me to slow down.

Obviously, Snyder was over-the-top in his preferential treatment to RG3 and they're stopping it.

What the **** are you talking about? I am pissed, yes. I am pissed about Gruden's comments to the press that came out Friday. You can put a stop to preferential treatment and whatever else behind closed door, like a professional does, or you can do what Gruden did, and what he got so upset at Griffin for doing earlier in the week. Gruden publicly buried Griffin. Buried him.

Amateur hour.

I know you love your boy McD, and that's cool, but this was a **** up of epic proportions. Gruden pretty much just wrote Griffin's ticket out of town, AND his own.

So... congrats?
