What a time to be an Orioles fan. One of the most exciting teams in baseball with a plethora of young stars. It's been 26 years since they have had this kind of team. Buck did an amazing job getting this team to the playoffs in 2012 and 2014, but this team is something different. Even the 96 and 97 teams were great, but had a lot of free agents come in. This is mostly homegrown talent and they are fun to watch. They already clinched a playoff birth and the magic number for the division is 7. I know that others of you grew up Orioles fans like I did. Those of us that stuck with it through this really dry spell, it's very rewarding to see what this team has become. So please discuss the Orioles and their playoff run here.

We've got to make sure we stay out of the wild card, I was already pricing a trip with the Mrs. to fly up and catch a game for the ALDS and if we play Tampa can also catch a game in St. Pete. Last time I saw the O's in the playoffs was the wild card series in which we won against the Indians in 96 (I was probably one of 5 O's fans at Jacobs field). I'm stoked, I've watched more baseball this year thanks to the pitch clock and thankfully for a team that just seems to find a way to keep winning. I did catch a Braves game in June as well in Atl (great ballpark), that team is stacked but that don't mean diddly poo once you hit the post season.

Magic Number down to 2, but today is all about Brooks. The greatest defensive third baseman to ever play.

Magic number down to 1. Also, 1 more win and they have the first 100 win season since 1980.

Tough game 1. They just couldn't get the hits when it mattered. The double play in the 8th really killed their best chance to tie it. They need to bounce back tomorrow and even it up, or it's going to be do or die time in Arlington.

I went to High School with Steve Mountcastle. His son - well, you know who he is :)

Really rough game from the pitchers. Hopefully the bats came awake today and will keep going in game 3. Have to climb out of this massive hole down in Arlington.

Not a good way to end the season last night, but the future is indeed bright for the Orioles. They still have a lot of talent waiting to come up to the bigs. They will need to find a closer next year without Bautista. I’ll be interested to see if they go after any free agents. Elias hasn’t signed any free agents to a multi year deal since he’s been the GM. If they do, I’d like to see them do it for a pitcher. This staff needs an ace.

Good season though. I know there are a few more O’s fans here. We definitely have a lot to look forward to in the next few years.

I still think if we'd have gotten Tampa instead of Texas we're in the WS. Texas was just built for the playoffs, it was the one match up I didn't want to see and now their playing for the trophy. Must root for AZ now, gotta love the underdog story. I agree Kel, we need an ace, we've got some good young talented arms but none I'd say is ready to dominate, just yet.

The Orioles are being sold. I can’t believe the Orioles and Redskins both get rid of their awful owners in the same year. I would not have imagined that in a million years.

And then we trade for a capable number 3 starter, am I dreaming

I actually think this is a brilliant Idea.

Calling him up in August / September right when they're likely gonna be battling for playoff seeding would be limiting him. Get his feet wet NOW and try to get that confidence over the next 150 games so he's hopefully taking step as the O's enter the post season.

Add to that, they have Tony Kemp on the roster. But I see he was just DFA’d to make room for Holliday. This is definitely the right move. No need to have your future superstar in the minors while washed up veterans are taking roster spots.

I tell ya, I noticed those fans in Fenway don't seem nearly as loyal as when they were ahem winners. The O's put a nice ass whooping on their opening day in Fenway and a smile on my face.

Holliday to wear #7 , classy by the Ripken family to embrace it

Holliday back down to triple A, I agree, he got a taste, wasn't ready, shatter his confidence now by keeping him on the roster, nope, relax kid. I see a lot of people shitting on the decision. I don't get it.

Check out the new father's day blue on black O's hat, just got mine 🔥

The O's have now won 22 straight series against AL East opponents after embarrassing the evil empire yesterday.
