Shame they couldn’t follow up on that against the Astros. The Yankees lost 2 of 3 to the Braves, so they didn’t lose much ground, but they should not have been swept by the under .500 Astros.
I wish we could've seen this season with Means, Wells and Rodriguez (who they say might return). I have a feeling we'd have locked up the East or close already. I wish we'd keep Burnes but we have yet to see how the new owners appetite for spending is along with most likely losing Santander in the offseason and possibly a larger roster shakeup. Damn injuries, damn them to hell.
Outfielder Tyler O'Neill and the Orioles have agreed to a 3-year, $49.5 million contract, a source told ESPN, filling a void created by the free agency of slugging outfielder Anthony Santander.

Good signing. Santander probably gone, but I'm okay with that. Kjerstad will platoon.
O's pickup a 35 year old FA Japanese star Tomoyuki Sugano on a one year deal, I like this move. Doesn't replace Burnes but we couldn't afford to keep him anyway.
I sure hope we get our pitching reasonable, not a lot of talent due to injuries but can't rely on the bats all the time. Ownership eventually gonna have to shell out for a true number 1 even if it's a solid 2 starter slightly overpaid.
Yeah, the GM is really screwing up the opportunity they have. Let’s face it, some of these guys won’t re-sign when they hit free agency. If the owner really does want to spend as he said when he bought the team, this past offseason was the time to be aggressive. Instead he sat on his hands hoping their existing pitching would improve, while going dumpster diving.
The good news is they have won 3 of 4, so maybe they are ready to turn the corner.
Starting rotation and bullpen are atrocious. Injuries have not helped, but honestly the front office did little to nothing to acquire some meaningful arms. I knew it during the off-season and I sure as hell can tell now, every Orioles fan can.
The Stowers/Norby trade for Rogers last year was simply stupid and might go down as one of the worst trades in franchise history.
We have relied on our other so called young stars to step up and deliver and none of them have this year. Kjerstad has been disappointing. Mayo hasn't shown anything. Rutschman has fallen off a cliff. Up until the last couple of weeks, Holliday wasn't showing much. Mountcastle is scuffling. Every single batter has been disappointing aside for maybe O'Hearn and Mullins.
Team will be lucky to win 70 games. Gotta be sellers this year. We need to develop some young arms, Elias has failed to address that through the draft.
I think a lot of the offensive struggles are the young bats trying to do too much to overcome the pitching deficiency. It's still early in the season, I'm not in panic mode, tear it all down mode. That's why baseball is almost irrelevant until July.
This season so far has been one for the dumpster, it's only mid May and I try to stay positive but holy crap even when our pitching is sub standard but ok we now can't generate offense. I'm hoping come June this ship gets turned around, I really don't want a July sell off of talent.
Hyde has been fired. But I think Elias is the bigger culprit here. He didn’t go after pitching this offseason. They have young star hitters in rookie deals. The chances of all those guys sticking around is slim. They should have invested in pitching when they had the shot.
This season is not over, but they have dug themselves a hole and other than a couple of series here and there, have shown no signs of pulling out of the slide.
It took me awhile to process letting Hyde go, he seemed in tune with his players and the disaster so far can't be attributed to coaching, Elis should be fired tomorrow. Scapegoating your coach is not a good look. Essentially I'm pissed off and this feels like the Angelo's still own the team. WTF does this due to help chemistry and winning, we know the deficiencies, yeah the offense is struggling, they're swinging from behind everyday due to an atrocious pitching staff which last time I looked the coach has no control of. Fucking Bmore being Bmore all these years later and this young core is going to get paid elsewhere soon, the window closes faster and faster and we get 2-3 years and then years of misery as we trade our assets.
Looks like another cheap owner is going to bring down what was potentially a competitive team. You can blame the GM but why would he not spend the money if the owner was offering it up?
They signed NOBODY. I'm not really surprised at the outcome so far. They could turn it around, but I would be surprised.
