Beat me to it - the internet is fast - NASCAR announced it at 1pm.

Anyway...

Read what Kerry Tharp said (comes straight from my email)...

"These penalties are a result of what occurred on pit road after the race was over," said Kerry Tharp, senior director for communications, competition. "They are about maintaining a safe environment on pit road."

So, when you read between the lines, KB's retaliation was legit. KH was the culprit who started it and KB finished it - on the track. NASCAR has no issues with things on the track - KB was right to retaliate. The penalties are for the incident on pit road - just as I predicted on late Sat. night/early Sun. morning. It helps to have insider sources.

In the post previous to that one, I said, "and that KB pushing a competitor's car down pit road was technically wrong". Again...Hello, is this thing on???

In each post today, please point out where I actually disagree with this statement. Heck, I said it was something that NASACR would not overlook - ON SATURDAY NIGHT.

But I will say this...
I would've done the same thing and anyone with an ounce of common sense would've done the same thing. With KH's crew arriving on the scene, ten against one never favors the one.
 
KB was right to retaliate - DURING the race. I've made that clear since Sat. night. "On the track" and "in the pits" are two different areas. Funny how you didn't put in red "on the track" which was in the same sentence. Again, there was nothing wrong with what happened on the track. If that was the case, then NASCAR would've fined one or both of them.

To be clear - both were fined for what happened on pit road. Nothing more, nothing less. Each received the same penalty, so both were equally at fault on pit road.

I challenge you to find where NASCAR has said that KB was wrong to retaliate on the track - you know, during the race.
 
To be completely honest about any NASCAR race, the powers that be could care less about what you or I think with regards to any incident. We may agree or disagree with NASCAR's decision, but their decision (or lack thereof) simply indicates that they had no problem with what occurred on the track.

So yes, NASCAR is saying to KH, KB, JG, JR, JJ, DH, etc. that you can mess with another driver three times in half a lap, but if you end up in the wall, that is your problem. That's NASCAR's call, not mine.
 
Funny thing is Mike, you are now resorting to personal attacking. That's when you have lost the argument. I'm thick-skinned and it has no effect on me. Just ask fansince62. But glad that you took the time to look at some of what is being said and reported. I don't need vindication, but it was nice to see.

From the very moment that the incident occurred, I simply told everyone in this thread what would happen, why Harvick was the primary culprit (I listed a bunch of history a full two days before Sporting News listed theirs - this incident simply fit the template/pattern), what the penalties would likely cover, and how public sentiment would turn against Harvick.

If you want to continue to butt heads, that is fine by me. You're dealing with an encylopedia of knowledge and insight when you take me on in all things NASCAR. I don't recommend doing it. I was able to pull some of Harvick's history from that memory bank of mine this weekend and these articles simply confirmed it. It's not my goal to embarrass you or to force you into a corner to a point which causes it to be personal at that juncture.

I have provided less insider info this year for a reason and it is similar to the reasons that have plagued jsteelz and Lavarleap56. A few people ridicule them for simply providing some unique insight and I know why it is done. I know why they post less insider stuff regarding the Redskins and you're not the first person to send me some ridicule for that same reason. It happens. I'll just leave it at that and participate in this thread accordingly.

Mike, I have no desire to justify anything to you. Has jsteelz ever felt the need to justify his insider contacts? Lavarleap56? Myself? There is simply no need to do so and the reasons are plain to see.

People can take what I say as gospel or they can leave it in the trash dumpster. Either way, it doesn't matter to me.

Just know that when you post something and I know it isn't accurate or an honest mistake, I will say something. From the moment this happened, I pretty much knew what was going to be done and how it would be handled. I also knew where it was going. Heck, I have debates about what the Redskins will do in the draft, FA, and so on. In the thread about Vince Young, nearly everyone disagreed with me and we had some good converstions - none of it was personal. Just know that when I present something as fact, it will be backed up - just as you have seen over the last three days. It's not bragging - it's just a fact. It's not meant to be personal toward you. Nothing more, nothing less.
 
Then prove me wrong about matters over the last three days. This is your golden chance.

And nice article about Dale. I was reading about that meeting on Sunday via an email from a Jr. fan/friend.

Kyle Busch got caught going 128 in a 45 zone this afternoon. Coach Gibbs is going to have a tongue lashing with him - no doubt about it. Probably some sort of team probation, sponsor probation, and a scolding from NASCAR as well. Not too smart.
 
Condoning violence? Not surprised. Let the drivers hash it out. RC went after a driver on probation - eh, easy to do. 150K is nothing and the problems with RCR are going to grow. Mark my word - Dale, Jr. will be involved in some incident with a RCR driver in the future and we'll see how some of the fan base reacts at that juncture.

Nothing is sacred with the RCR organization. Just ask Jeff Gordon.

Mark my word. Something very serious will happen with someone at RCR. It may not be this year or next, but something very serious or tragic will happen and it will be at the hand of an angry and very emotional RCR team member - or more. The culture is there. It's scary. It's one thing to have a run-in or some sort of feud, but the overall culture at RCR is bordering on criminal. It's just a matter of time before that line is crossed.
 
As for Jr...

He will get that win soon enough - and then some. The car is too good and he has that mojo back. You have to overcome the bad luck to finally get there - it will happen.

Red Bull leaving NASCAR. NOS is better and has been kicking them all over the place. Amp gets a lot of air time from a popular driver.

Vickers will need to find a ride.
 
Dale, Jr. got a raw deal at the end. Burton started to push him and Jr/ would've finished 5th, but JB backed off to let the tandem of Harvick/Menard go ahead. Yep, that RCR car looking out for teammates and giving Jr. a 17th place special.

Jr. was livid about it after the race. Hmmmmm. Mad at the RCR boys. Can't blame him one bit.

NASCAR is now scoring it as a 19th place finish.

Jr. Nation is also very mad with JJ and flooded his twitter. JJ's response:
I didn't leave Jr hanging, you people are crazy. When my crew tells me to pit, I pit. Steve and Chad sort out the details.

It sure is quite odd to see a Toyota draped in American Flag painting. I love Joe Gibbs for showing us all how much he loves this country! Now go back to an American manufacturer!
