This makes so much sense. And it would ease the departure of Belichick. Vrabel coming home to replace the legend that made him famous.
 
No, he's done a good job in Tennessee, but his team has resembled what Rivera was trying to do here - running game, game manager quarterback and win it on defense.

That's a hard model to win with free agency and general parity around the NFL these days.
 
I've been saying for years that the Vrabel Titans were as close a comp to the old Gibbs Redskins as I've seen in many years. Not in terms of pure success, but in style. Tough, smart, no-nonsense professional football teams. Only thing Vrabel didn't have was the QB play he needed ... he didn't quite have the offensive genius Joe did in milking magic from non-elite QB's.

Shocked he's out there. And agree the universe seems to be saying it's time to head back to Foxboro, Mike.

I agree. Tannehill is textbook game manager. And whoever picked the draft qbs missed. Malik Willis is a bust, then they draft Levis - and he doesn't look like anything special. If Pats job opens - Vrabel is a no-brainer. He is a good coach overall.

One wonders with the limited willingness of the owners to spend money in free agency who the Titans are going to get to go there and make a greater impact than Vrabel.
 
Harris seems to be going for guys he is going to be able to interview and then hire.

Harbaugh seems like a guy that is going to take 10 interviews and let all those teams wine and dine him and soak up the attention. Dating Harbaugh could be a 2 plus week affair if not longer and I don't see this organization waiting that long to find out what he wants to do.
 
I wouldn't mind Vrabel at all. He'd bring toughness and leadership we haven't had here (as alluded to by Om) since Gibbs.
He's still young enough that he still has the fire to get to the Superbowl and paired with a strong GM? Would be a very good choice.

Both excellent prospects. Both retreads. I want someone who will for better or worse make their name here. Maybe we roll snake eyes, but the only time we actually rolled the dice over the last 30 years was Jay Gruden. Now that may pour ice water down your spine, but every other guy was a head coach who was brought in because of their past glory elsewhere.

I'm fine with some graybeards on the staff whether they are position coaches or a coordinator. In fact, if we go for a virgin head coach I think it'd be good to get a vet coach to coordinate the other side. But my preference for our next captain is someone we think can become the next great.
 
Mind you, I'm sticking to my guns until they make their choice... then I'm sure I'll support whoever unless it's a stupid choice.
 
I don't want to hire another fired coach. I just don't. He's been an NFL coach for a decade now. I'd prefer we get someone younger and who has to prove himself as a first timer and is truly hungry and innovative. Nothing against Vrabel - I think him getting fired is kind of a joke to begin with. But i think we can do better.
 
I'll go on record now: whether it's front office/GM or head coach candidate, I want nothing from the Dallas Cowboys.

I think he’s interviewing Quinn to keep him distracted during the playoffs. Granted, that defense should make Jordan Love look like Bryce Young. But it’s worth a shot to keep his mind on something else.

The same hurricane of craziness he speaks of also happens to have his teams contending literally every year, whether at the college level or the pros. It's beyond impressive and I am not too sure why seriously engaging in the business of winning is something fans of this team are so scared of after being in hell for 25 years. Personally, I am not putting up a wall to other candidates and realize that Harbaugh is not the end all and be all, but congratulations to whatever team does get him. I don't think he ultimately lands here, but I would be lying if I said I part of me wouldn't be disappointed if he is on some other sideline in 2024.

Harbaugh has won BIG everywhere he’s been.

We’re idiots if we don’t consider him if he wants to come to DC because his personality needs work.
 
In short, any analysis that starts out with ‘He’s a winner but…’ is moronic.
