That's ok - all in good fun. Lanky is doing a good job too. Everyone is - we all need FO jobs at Redskins Park.

I will say this about the members here, after perusing the status updates of my friends on FB I cannot believe how blinded by the WaPo venom many of them are. At least here, we appear to be much more educated.

I'm glad I dont have most of those people on FB....I deleted a lot of people who were just too negative or always talking down about the team.
I've stayed away from FB today for that very reason - did one reply to K, but got out of there quickly. Here and stuff on twitter is more than enough for now.

Lol, I wish I was a pup.

60 is young, but not for a HC in the NFL.

12-14 hour workdays, further planning at home, and trying to stay one step ahead of the rest of the league is taxing. I'm sure it can be done, but it's probably even more difficult at 65.

Like Presidents, NFL coaches visibly wear down quickly.

His age shouldn't exclude him, but it's one of many factors that at least needs to be acknowledged.
I agree with this 100%

Briles at age 48 would be a prime candidate for every team searching in the NFL; at 58 it will be interesting to see if he gets any contact from other clubs on the hunt. He has taken both Houston and Baylor from the scrapheap to the top with stellar offensive production along the way, so he has certainly earned a look based on merit.

In the Redskins' position though, I think youth is a core requirement for the next head coach. The core of the team is young and there is ample room to build as the salary cap restrictions expire. Allen and Snyder have the opportunity here to build a rising team from the ground up with the most important piece already in place.

Coaches who won SB, hired at 50+ years old:

Couglin
Vermeil
Switzer

I think that's it.. Coughlin's two miracle SB runs have kept him hanging on the longest, but none of those three built any real sustained success.

Briles has been terrific at Baylor, but his age is a major consideration.

They have to keep someone on to deal with players for the week before they send them away for good.

They got rid of the ones with ties to Shanahan and kept the others to help organize the house before they bring their HC candidates through on recruitment sessions.

Or to send a message - because that's the kind of guy Snyder is...

Haslett's contract is expiring, so keep him on for now. The new coach will talk with him and then send him on his way. He may be offered a position coach job.

In truth I'm in the 'let's bring in a young head coaching stud (ala Gibbs I) and see if he can flourish' camp.
The official 'cut list' so far:
Matt LaFleur
Well, the new young stud coach may "flourish" camp, but since we lost our QB Coach, he definitely won't "LeFleurish" in camp !!

What I want:
The entire staff to be fired with the exception of Bruce Allen and Morocco Brown. Hire a football GM or promote Brown. Several good names have been suggested in this thread. Hire David Shaw or Jay Gruden as HC. There will be several good DCs available.

What I think will happen:
See above.
BOOM!

Early gut reaction is Jay Gruden. Allen is the GM, so with his relationship with Jon we may have inside track to little brother.
BOOM!
