Initial injury report... not excited about Fuller being there

I’m looking for Howell’s first long TD pass. To date his longest this season is 30 yards to McLaurin vs Denver.

Giants always seem to have our number no matter how bad they are. We better not come out flat.

Saw that Jones will likely not play. I kind of expect us to make the Giant look like a playoff contender with a back up under center...

All about our defense in this one, I think.

Giants have scored one offensive TD in their last four games. They have scored five offensive TD's all season--one against SF three weeks ago in a lost cause, and four in the 2nd-half comeback against AZ after falling behind 20-0. Yes they have faced a tough schedule (Dallas, AZ, San Fran, Seattle, Miami, Buffalo) but their offense has been a disaster by any standard measure.

JDR and the Washington D cannot come out tentative or flat and give NY the chance to get going offensively.

There is no doubt that the defense has to perform up to their capabilities.

More important to me though is that Bieniemy and Howell are prepared for the havoc that Wink Martindale will try to wreak. If not, young Sam will have a long, long day.

Agreed. Watched the Giants vs Bills game as pod prep ... the NY defense was NOT passive. They came after Allen hard--lots of bodies/movement in the box, and a lot of extra rushers coming from all kinds of angles. Allen got away from several apparent sacks with his strength and athleticism, plus he got the ball out fast. I would be shocked if NY doesn't come after us just as hard if not more.

EB, Sam and the OL better operate quickly and efficiently and get the ball the fuck out of Sam's hands, or Thibodeux, Marshall & Co. are going to create headaches.

If Eric Bienemy wants his offense to consistently contribute to winning efforts, especially against lesser teams they should be able to beat, he has to learn to get out of his own way. I really love what I've seen and heard from EB so far - and I was very skeptical about him at the outset. But there are many times where dropping your QB to pass over and over and over again is not the way to go. Yeah, I know. All these sacks are Sam Howell's fault. Except they aren't. According to PFF, of all Howell's sacks, roughly 40% of them are directly attributable to Howell (either holding onto the ball too long, or rolling into a sack, etc...). The rest have been the result of shaky OL play. That's because our front office has refused to do what it takes to build a stout highly capable OL.

We generally look very good in the passing game, largely because of our talented receiving corps, and a surprisingly good Sam Howell under center. I think we can put points up on New York through the air. But going pass heavy as we have pretty much done in every contest so far in 2023 will give the Giants a chance to beat a better Washington team the only way they really can - by forcing turnovers.

If we want to beat teams we should, we need to gameplan based on their weaknesses, and cease with the 'to hell with the stats, throw the ball' approach that EB has leaned on so far. The Giants are awful defensing the run. AWFUL. 30th in the league in rushing yds allowed awful.

We need to pound the football down their throats all day long on Sunday. And when we aren't handing the ball off to Robinson and Gibson and Rodriguez, we need to be hitting them with short passes and screens and make the Giants defend those talented RBs in space. Mixing in some designed Sam Howell runs would be great as well. We are more than capable of laying 200 yds rushing on this Giants defense, limiting their possessions, and winning a ball control game convincingly if EB will simply suppress his base instincts to pass, pass, and pass some more.

Run the damn ball EB. Pound it. Do what Bill Belichick would do in terms of gameplanning.

If I were the Giants and 4/5ths of my starting o line was out or questionable, I might be reluctant to play a QB coming off a neck injury. Just saying.
