Official Game Thread Week 5: WFT vs. New Orleans Saints

The offense was down 2 starters on the line, a receiver group of McLaurin, Humphries, Carter, Milne, and RSJ at TE for most of the game. Sprinkle in too cute play calling and the result is not a surprise.

Del Rio is unimaginative and seems determined that the problems aren’t scheme related. To a significant degree he is wrong.

Tress Way earned an Oscar. 👍🏻

(To be fair, the Saints had just as many challenges as Washington did on offense.)

I don't see the Saints going that far. Jameis is what he is. It's just that our D was so bad that he managed to toss 4 TDs while looking like garbage.

Opponents have scored 160 points in 5 games, or an average of 32 points a game. Pathetic.

It's inexcusable considering the talent up front. Del Rio needs to go.
Chris Harris the DB coach deserves a great deal of blame as well . At week 5 a lack of communication shouldn’t be an issue

This team flat out stinks from coaching to player execution. No excuses, we are horrible

I’m starting to wonder if they’re tanking for the top draft spot to get the best QB. Makes more sense than this coaching staff plain forgot how to coach.

The “unofficial” way for losing

True, he oversees this shitty defense that was top 5 last season but Hazlet-esque this year.
Joe Barry esque.

I'm gonna sit so pretty next week in fantasy since Patty Mahomes is gonna play our D. He might even hit 50 if the O manages to make it somewhat of a shootout.

I think the "Lack of communication" is just coach speak when they don't want to call out a player. On the first TD, Landon Collins was out of position AGAIN. We can skip the Hail Mary because that's another issue completely. The 3rd passing TD, the DB took the longest possible route to the ball on a pick play. The other guys were all playing man to man, so he followed his man but took the long route leaving the WR wide open. The last TD, Kam Curl bit on the fake and was slow to react to Kamara going out for a pass leaving him wide open.

This is just incompetence. I'm not absolving the coaches and I'm not saying there isn't a lack of communication. But some players are just not doing their job. They are pulling a Landon Collins and leaving their responsibilities. That used to be called a Josh Norman. Now, it will be called a Landon Collins.

We should just leave the guys on an island and send blitzes all the time....not like we're stopping guys from getting open with numbers.....

Time to bench Collins and McCain and let Everett and Reaves have a turn....you know, accountability?

Not sure what’s up with the team not playing Davis much. For a 1st rounder is it too soon to say bust?

Something fishy about those snap counts. Jackson 56, Fuller 53, St-Juste 12? We played the majority of the game with only 2 corners?

Davis only played 23% of the snaps despite the loss of Bostic? Yeah, that is definitely approaching a bust designation for a mid first round pick on a bad defense.

Cole is about the only person on D I would not consider terrible this year.

Who is defense? Did we sign them last night because I can't recall seeing defense on the field yet this season

Allen, Payne, and Ioannidis have all been solid guys this year too.

Holcomb has been victimized in pass defense too much for me.

Yeah, I was going to reply with the same thing. He was constantly being burned yesterday. That doesn’t make him alone for sure, but I noticed some genius had him trying to cover Kamara on multiple occasions.

He was also outrun by Jameis on a scramble. He is not known for scrambling and is not a fast QB, but he outran Holecomb. That was disappointing to see as it happened.

Overall I think the Run D has been pretty good all year. Certainly not shutdown like we were expecting, but not bad. It is the pass D that is killing this team. Plus, the inability to stop teams when it matters, 3rd down.

Ionnidas has already been hurt and splits time with Payne. Not exactly considering them on the same level. Allen I can agree with.
