Official Game Thread - Week 2 - Giants @ Commanders

Ah, we slayeth the demon known as Daniel Jones....
Feels good, now I dread whatever the hell the Giants draft will kill us worse than Daniel Jones.

An ugly win for sure but a win is a win, and this team needs to learn how to do it. Add in the fact that JD improved from week 1 and we also might have found our wr2 in Noah Brown.

how many of the losses to the Giants over the past few years have been ugly wins for them? ;)

since both of these teams have been near the bottom of the standings in recent years it usually comes down to which one is ever so slightly better than mediocre for that one afternoon.

Fair. But Washington was clearly the better team this time in my view. NY never stopped the Wash offense—it’s a two or three possession win but for the bizarre run of red zone false starts.

Washington's offense between the twenties was dominant. We annihilated New York in time of possession and never punted, but therein lies the rub. With as few chances as the Giants got on offense they made our defense look like nothings. So, it's hard to say our team was better when the Giants made our D look that bad. After all, we were one dropped pass and an injured kicker away from losing this game.

You're not wrong.... but....

IF (I know i know) 2 or 3 of those red zone drives are TDs instead of FGs, the Giants game plan changes dynamically and they're completely 1 dimensional. It changes the game plan for both sides of the ball.

The team in 2024 is going to be scratching for wins. That said, I would rather go down fighting than sitting back and getting bludgeoned.

Daniel Jones is a guy that can't handle any pressure. And yet Washington consistently let him sit back in the pocket and go through his progressions.

THAT is one reason the game was as close as it was.

Pressure Jones more on third downs and the Giants don't drive to score 3 touchdowns.

Given they only had the ball for 22 minutes in a 60 minute game, you would normally expect a win by more than 3 points.
