Official Game Thread - Week 18 - Cowboys @ Commanders

How about Bobby Mitchell watching Leonard Stephens coming out in #49?

The only reason I will watch this game is to see Howell play.

Guess I will tune in after halftime.

was just coming to report it...

I actually agree with that. Like we talked about in chat, I would like to see him get reps with the 1s and at least practice as a starter before throwing him in the deep end.

It appears to be conclusive at this point that we will be parting ways with Wentz in the offseason based on the news coming out this morning regarding the Dallas game. That all said, I feel as though we are also burning a bridge with Taylor too, to potentially have him come back in a backup role for the organization. The messaging is poor to Heinicke - you are not good enough to start in a do or die game vs. Cleveland, but we want you to do a little grunt work for us vs. Dallas before we throw Sam to the wolves. If I am Heinicke, I am looking for employment elsewhere this offseason. In fact, I would be very surprised if he returns to D.C.

I doubt that because fans feel certain TH is a backup and can’t be more than that, that he necessarily believes that.

I think he probably will want to go to a team where he’s at least assured he can compete to be the starter. I don’t see us being able to say that believably after going with him for 2 years and not being able to get above .500. But who knows - he’s a smart kid and maybe he realizes he’s a backup level talent and could be satisfied with that role?

There may not be a team willing to let him compete. I suspect while he was likely pissed he got benched that he is also grateful to Washington for giving him the chance no other team was willing to give him.

No idea which sentiment will drive his decisions.

I suspect even if Howell proves not to be a future starter that he’d be a more talented (and cheaper) backup than Heinicke so I’m not worried about it either way.

My guess is that unless the money is very similar he goes elsewhere. And he should. This is more than likely his final shot at real money.

He should get another shot at starting here. We have zero idea if Howell is even decent since he's never played a down worth a damn.

Just telling him "you're the back up" didn't work out when they did it for Wentz, and it won't again. If Taylor does something this off-season to improve he should have the same right as anyone else not in the top 10 of NFL proven QBs has.

I’ve thought all along Heinicke would not be in DC next year. I can’t imagine him going anywhere else and starting, unless it’s a team with a high draft pick that wants to sit their rookie. Ironically he could end up in Indy in that situation.

Wentz got paid $28M to finish 2-5 and throw 3 INTs in a must win game?

Talk about stealing the money.

Big arm, little production.

Didn't he blow a must win game against a sub .500 team at the end of last year?:devilish:

No way he does that here too, eh Ron?

Wentz didn’t steal a thing.

The organizational brain trust own’s the criminal outcome.

Well, that’s Snyder.

If there’s a guy in a shop willing to pay $200 for a $50 item without asking about the price it’s Snyder.

That's pretty much everyone. My gosh

I'm assuming Allen's knee is ok?

AKA ‘the starters’…

He’s not at practice, so 🤷🏻‍♂️

I’m sure that will be asked at the presser in a couple of minutes.

Howell is apparently getting the nod to start.

Ron is falling apart so badly he can't even get press conferences right. He's seriously shook.
