Official Game Thread - Week 16 - Commanders @ 49ers

The one thing I noticed, but who knows if it was real or not, was that yesterday Wentz spread the ball around more. Once he came in some balls went in Samuels direction, to the TE, to the running backs. Seemed like Hienicke was only looking at one or two receivers. It feels like a long time since we included Samuel in the passing game.

Good catch

Sometimes Taylor get so comfortable throwing to guys who are covered, he fails to continue his progression to get to guys that are open.

This sums up why I never want to see TH start again. He literally cannot see the field. That can't be fixed.

Open receivers developing faster then he can process. Had the LB stayed home and realized Robinson was covered that is for sure a pick

He literally cannot see the WRs whether they are open or not. It's a shame he doesn't have an NFL body, because if he *could* see downfield, I think Taylor would be a hell of a QB despite his less than elite arm strength. But the combination of those two physical limitations cannot be overcome.

What's Wentz's excuse? Because, he rode the pine for weeks while this QB you're talking about put us in playoff contention.

Sorry, but Doug Flutie, Drew Brees and many others made great careers for themselves with these "limits". Taylor not seeing one WR break free doesn't mean shit. He knew what he wanted, was probably told that was his play (he's not allowed to change the play), and still got the TD.

This is like being mad you missed out on getting a Corvette when you ended up with a Lamborghini. We scored there.

Whatever Mike.

We’ve seen it over and over and over these past 2 seasons. He consistently misses wide open receivers. This is one example.

I didn’t say anything about Wentz.

The current offense is no where near what it was in the beginning of the season in terms of game planning. The addition of Brian Robinson has a lot to do with it. I hope Turner understands that.

Whatever? Sorry I didn't just sit back when I disagreed.

I said something about Wentz and meant it. He's failed from three teams in three years, yet our coaches decided to put him back in. He almost threw two picks even during garbage time when they weren't pressuring him.

Taylor hasn't been allowed to play his style of football and it is causing him to suffer. Why would you make a QB who is short a statue in the pocket (which never lasts) and ask him to read an entire defense when he's getting blitzed and hit constantly. Bosa had Thomas blocking him!!

On top of that, Howell isn't even dressed. So, benching Heinicke and Wentz failing means we have to swallow that shit sandwich merely because our coaches don't think.

I think we can all agree Wentz isn't the long term answer, but seeing Taylor struggle to see that is extremely frustrating.

This is why I'd love to see Howell. I want to know what we've got there.

Looking at the play above, it's a miracle we kept Cole Turner and Robinson in to help in pass pro... with Robinson leaking out. An NFL QB needs to be able to see that and let it rip... Taylor appeared to lock on to Terry and stay there because it appears to be Zone and Terry is lined up across from an LB. The problem is there are 3 guys running a shell defense and no secondary route to move them on the left side. Taylor needs to know that pre-snap. Turner is in motion (and stays in to block, but it forces the right side LB to stay down in the box) and Robinson is in a leak route. With the route combination there is no reason for Taylor to look left at all, except to move the MLB. You wonder how much of that is Taylor and how much is Scott Turner. Why would that be first read in the playcall KNOWING Terry is running into a zone coverage with 3 players on the left of the line? Taylor bears responsibility, but so does Scott Turner. How much of the offense is built the same way? Turner needs to be in Taylors ear at the break of the huddle telling him "if it's zone, look left to move the LB but snap back to Dotson"
